garrett and i went to see waiting, dane cook's new movie, and it was the funniest movie i've seen in a long time! i highly recommend it for anyone who's out for a night of laughs. if you've ever worked in a restaurant, that will make it all the more funny.
last night, cortney, garrett, and i carved pumpkins. we had a blast. isn't it funny how activities that take us back to our childhood can make us the happiest? i carved a classic jack-o-lantern, but i added a little "holly" to it by carving a bow in it's head. cortney made the letters usmc...very cool. garrett carved an eagle, globe, and anchor on one side and on the other he carved his mos (0331). they turned out awesome!
after our pumpkins were lit and showing of on the front porch, cortney and i spent a great deal of time picking out seeds from our pumpkin guts. naturally, we wanted to cook our own pumpkin seeds. now, i don't know how...but we burnt them. our project was ruined...but we still had our pumpkins!
later on, cortney asked me to go with her to the otter mart (a convenience store down the street) so we could get some candy, seeing as how we wouldn't be snacking on pumpkin seeds. when we went outside, my dad was just arriving home and admiring our pumpkins. cortney and i started babbling...we were so proud...about our pumpkins...and our dad was going on about how neat they were. all of a sudden, guess who came walking up the driveway? jason!!!!!!!!!!! cortney and i have never run faster to hug someone in our entire lives. we screamed so loud. of course, there were tears. it was so nice to see him. he's home for real! we were up til almost midnight talking. he showed us pictures on his laptop of things he did and where he lived.
he also showed us his purple heart.....? cortney and i were a little confused by this. everyone hid it from us! we found out that he was inujured after a sniper tried to shoot him. it missed and went behind him. the shrapnel flew and hit him in the side as well as the cheek. i'm angry that everyone hid it from me. i understand that no one wanted me to worry, but he's my brother. i have just as much of a right to know as the rest of the family.
i can't be angry...there is too much time to catch up on. i'm at work, so i must get to getting!
