JUPITER - An 18-year-old Jupiter High School student died in a two-car crash Tuesday evening just outside the Florida Altantic University campus in Abacoa, police said.
Scott Goering was riding in a 2006 Toyota that was southbound on Parkside Drive and attempting to make a left turn onto Donald Ross Road around 6:15 p.m., according to Sgt. Scott Pascarella, a police spokesman.
When the driver of the Toyota attempted to turn left onto the eastbound lanes it was struck by a G.M.C. Yukon that was traveling west on Donald Ross Road. Police did not release the identities of the two drivers.
Goering was taken by helicopter to St. Mary's Medical Center where he later died from his injuries. His driver was taken to Jupiter Medical Center.
The accident occurred at an intersection that is considered a southern entrance into Abacoa Town Center and the FAU campus from nearby Interstate 95. The intersection has a stop sign on Parkside Drive.
The accident is still under investigation.
Rest in peace Scott. You never had the opportunity to live but your memory will certainly live on. Your life was ripped away from you and it's just unbelievable. I'll never forget you calling me JOSHWA or your strings of long words. Rebecca knew you much better than I did and I just wish I had more of a chance to become better friends with you and your "Indigenous pulchritudalness." I believe everything happens for a reason and lately things have been unpredictable from every angle. I was smashed by a semi truck and survived only weeks ago. A death occurs every 13 minutes due a car accident. I'm sorry that you had to be against the odds :-( RIP S.G.
