Weekend of 01/18-01/20 (Steph, Cold, Mom, Lichtenstein, Blood, Brunch, Omni) and Random

My weekend was calm but nice.

Friday night it was cold and rainy here which does not usually = xt heading out. Instead steph_taylor came over here to Pharoah and Susan's and she and I caught up and I spent too much time showing her Gigsville/Kevissimo photos. (Thanks for humoring me Steph!) She left early and I spent the rest of that night and much of my weekend working with Omnifocus (love it btw) to get the sytem really working for me now that I have the job(s) and my time management is critical right now.

Saturday my mom came early and we went to the Eastside Cafe for lunch and then to the Austin museum of art to see the Lichtenstein exhibit which was the reason for her visit. The exhibit was good. I continue to really enjoy his comic book work the best. The museum only holds one exhibit at a time so it wasn't a very long outing. (Another note is that the museum has a way for you to use you cell phone for free to get the tour info which was cool.) After that we went downtown and tried to see There Will Be Blood at the Ritz Alamo but it was sold out. Then we went up to the Arbor and saw it. [Short review-Performances good, movie ending.meh.] There were a few parties I would have liked to attend but mom was the priority.

Sunday we went to brunch at Austin Java. My first time there-lovely. The rest of the afternoon I finished up my Omni stuff. I was going to go see Blade Runner, but again it was cold and Kevin and Susan came home so I hung here with them instead. Tomorrow I move locations to Sodium and Caution's so it was nice to get in some time with them before I go.

This week's events: tonight was a Flipside CC meeting, tomorrow is Caution's seminar on house buying for freaks, friday night is a pool party, Saturday I want to see a movie with Porn and do chores, and then Sunday I head to San Francisco for a week of training.

Some other random bits:

*I spent a day last week listening to Kanye West's catalogue. I think the boy is talented and kind of sweet (he believes in Jesus and loves his mother.) The sampling is complex and actual art. I will say that aside from the songs with the obvious hooks (like Golddigger) I don't know that I would need to listen to the complicated rap songs again. They just aren't things you sing along to...

**I like the word antecedent

***The b key on my computer is sticking and it's really annoying

****I miss theory radio. I hope it gets fixed soon.
