Weekend of June 29th-July 3rd (It's Delicous, It's Delovely, It's Decanceled)

Jul 03, 2007 03:34

So it's been raining here in Texas. A whole lot. And flooding as a result. So it made some sense that the organizers of this year's Flipside Decompression decided to move it.

However, I had really been looking forward to it. And we were still allowed out there if we wanted to do that. And I have golashes. And I had a really well staked down tent about 20 minutes away if it got really bad. (Back to Porn and T's house.)

One of my happy places

And it was one of the best decisions I could have made. It was fantastic. The official name we came up with for the weekend was Precompression. It was small -about 100 people (which is bigger than my first Flipside). And the weather was damn near perfect. And gosh do I love Rec Plant. It's easy. I did everything I wanted to do this weekend. I had some really great conversations with friends. I connected to Nylah, who is part of Pharoah's Trailer Park and thus family, but now I actually know who she is.I danced. I ate. I had a lovely time with valiquette. I managed to get Porn and T to leave the house. I talked to new people. I laughed a lot. I listened to live music. I danced. (I even hula hooped.) I spent a few hours in the creek. (Which has the echoes of all my LA Gigsville peeps running throughout those trees.) It was exactly the weekend I needed. I was happy to hear that the people who stayed home got what they wanted as well.

I am very much looking forward to next weekend when I will be out there again with a Much different scene as the masses descend. I am going to laugh if it rains though. May you all have a good holiday weekend.
