Well, it's been quite the week. I am older now, and at age 33 am at work waiting for 7:30pm so that I can go home and prepare for my bout with holiday travel.
Details of my weekend:
Friday Night: I went over to my accountant's house to play the game Cashflow that's based on the book Rich Dad, Poor Dad. It's an expensive game, so Scott hosts the game once or twice a month at his house. It's basically a practical guide to how to buy property/business and get yourself out of the 9 to 5 rat race. I really enjoyed playing and I won and got out of the rat race first! Now if only it were that easy in real life.
The second part of the evening was supposed to be dancing with the peeps, but as I had worked hard that day, and knew I had a big day ahead of me, I bailed and stayed home and watched DVDs. (Perhaps the sign of my impending age?)
Saturday Sylkia and I went to Bazaar Bazaar, a giant craft fair of good stuff. I was SO good though and didn't buy anything for myself.
I did however take this pic of these knitted friends. The woman who made them had no idea there was a war on:
Pirates "vs." Ninjas
Then I made it home barely in time to figure out what to wear and get to my birthday party. Because December is a crowded month and because our birthdays are days apart,
hurricane_linda, Hollypop and I had a joint party. The theme was "Rape Like a Pirate". It was a good night. Lots of friends came, a few couldn't make it. And even though I didn't expect it, I got some really nice gifts (THANKS SO MUCH!) There was way more pirates than raping, but that's alright. We're all getting old. There was a bit of dancing, many sword fights, lots of eating and drinking, smores, and good stuff.
oneeyedtj had my favorite costume of the night. I got to have some good talks with people. It was also the first party I've been at where a major topic of conversation was my impending move, and it was interesting talking about my reasoning for all of it. It was all I could have wanted (well, besides the romance novel rape by some new handsome drama free stranger.) Pics are
here.
Hands of my fellow bday girls
(I bought them those plastic candy heart rings. Linda's says "Die" and I think Holly's says "Pansy Ass"
As most of the crew had gotten out of the valley together, Danetta stole me and forced me to continue my debauchery. This led me to seeing Dawn at Jim and Rhonda's house for the Mutaytor after party, even though I didn't get to see any of my Mutyator people. I was glad I went though.
Sunday I slept in the morning having arrived home at around 8am. The afternoon and evening was spent chilling with the people.
The time in between? I wreaked havoc on the technology around me. I went downstairs to watch a dvd. Hmmm. It says Bad Disk when I put in the disk I want to watch. And everyone after that. Apparently the DVD player is now broken. Damn. Well, no worries. I just bought this Mac G4 laptop off of Craigslist two weeks ago and LOVE watching movies on it. I turn on the new 'puter, and it doesn't turn on like normal. A grey screen with the apple logo comes up. That's it. That's all. The next few hours weren't happy ones. I looked up the symptom on the interweb. Hmmm. That symptom isn't listed anywhere. It urns on in safe mode though. But only once. The roommate tries to help for an hour. Doesn't fix it. I wind up calling the guy I got the computer for to see if he can find the start up disks. No, I tell him. I didn't install anything.
So. Now I have a new DVD player bought and installed as a birthday present thanks to lovely
drslaw. And the computer is going to a friend tonight in the hopes he can fix it, cause others have failed. I'm a bit stressed, as I bought a Mac so I didn't have to do this. And since this was a very large purchase that I had o decide I needed to get, I'm bummed that this has happened at all. I also bought it when I did so I could have it on my Xmas travels. No such luck now. Whiny part of LJ entry ends now.
The night of my birthday I was pretty tired, so it was a quiet evening at home with Sylkia and Kat watching Brad Pitt in Troy. GTs. Christmas parties and Veronica Mars have rounded out my week.
Tonight I get to pack and head out tomorrow to Boston to see my Mom and sister. Wish me luck with the cold and the travel itself. I've already had one flight cancelled because my layover was in Boston. We'll see what happens tomorrow morning.
I've got a lot of stuff up at Kaboodle, so go
there. This week's holdings include:
many consumer whore items, a few new things on the wish list, some art/craft stuff, a stupid consumer item, and a LOT of video stuff (including a link to the top 50 videos of the year and some really funny stuff).
Here's something that makes me smile:
Well, I'm offline for a few days. I love ya'll, and hope you have a good Xmas. I will probably be on before Twigsville, but in case not, see you in '07!
