Loneliness.
Star felt lonely living in the apartment her and her ex boyfriend once shared.
Sure they hadn't been together for quite sometime but lately, with everything that happened she was really starting to regret how things ended up.
Deacon moved on.
He got married. . . he had someone.
He had something in Angleton that she did not.

One day Star decided to call him up for a chat.
They were friendly since the break up but even that. . . only went so far.
They hadn't hung out since he ended things but soon after their chat ,Deacon agreed to meet up with her at their old place.
His visit started out pleasant but after the formalities. . . tension started to heat things up.
"So. . . congrats on marrying Saffron," Star said in a tainted tone.
Deacon knew she didn't quite mean it and that bothered him a little.
He never needed her permission to get married but he felt like she could at least try to accept it.
"You don't mean that," Deacon said.
" it's just the right thing to say right?" she teased.
Deacon shrugged his shoulders.
What ex is truly happy when their old boyfriend moves on? I guess he could understand that.
They were suddenly silent for about a minute
There were times, old times when all they could do was talk. . . but it was obvious those times were over.
". . . how long after us did you guys. . . you know?" Star asked flatly.
"What do you want me to say?" Deacon asked her.
"The truth," she stated.
"I don't owe you the truth," he replied genuinely.
Star knew that Deacon didn't own her the truth or an explanation but she wanted one anyway.
"I never lied to you. . . we were never together when we were," Deacon spilled.
"How do you think it looks?" Star blurted out.
"It looks bad but it's the truth.
I'm not a cheater. . " he said staring at her.
. . . .
Ouch.
"You're still not over that?" she smirked.
Deacon smiled widely. He thought he was over it.
He thought he was over everything Star since he made Saffron his wife.
"You're still not over me?" he retaliated.
His smile was playful and it grew wide as her silence lingered.
She wasn't over him. She was the one who cheated and was now wanting him back.
. . .
"I screwed up. . ." she spilled softly.
"Well I'm married & I can't be anything to you. . . ever again," Deacon stated flat out.
His words were upfront and heartbreaking.
Maybe by asking him over she thought there was someway she could get him back, but his statement proved she didn't have a shot.
"I'm moving," she blurted out.
Deacon didn't know how to react to her second confession.
"There's nothing for me here and I guess I'm bitter," she smiled.
"I guess I can't be miserable in the same city where my ex found love," she added.
Deacon was still quiet.
He never wanted her to go but he understood where she was coming from.
"I probably won't see you again. . . so I at least wanted to say goodbye." she spilled.
". . . I will miss you.
No matter what happen or where I am in my life. . . I will miss you and I will always think about us," he said.
That felt a little warm.
Even if the us didn't mean a future but the memories and the good times they had together. . . it still felt good.
"Yeah. . . me too," she sighed.
