Move:

Went surprisingly well. I was out three full days ahead of time, and excepting a mishap where I threw away my mp3 player, cell headphone, and two chargers, there was no horrible chaos or distress.

I haven't bought the modem or router yet, so...erm, how would I recognize, via techspeak, whether the one I was purchasing fulfilled both functions? (Can you tell it's been a while since I've had wireless?)

Based on recent attempts to aquire a purely wireless router WITHOUT any kind of modem built in? You'll probably pick up the right thing as soon as you walk into the store. :)

(I.e. we couldn't find a freaking wireless router with no modem. We had to buy one used off of ebay.)

Your internet-connection-providing-company may be able to offer suggestions as to models and so on. (At least, over here they'll only do tech support for problems if you've got a model from the Approved List and are running windows. :) )

Last, you know I'll help such as I can. :) Would offer to possibly swing by and set it up except i doubt I'll be in the area until maybe Christmas. :)

Depending how much the damn thing costs, I may be WAITING til Christmas. I'm also terrified of putting in the card. I'm so afraid I'm gonna break it or not put it in right and short it out somehow or mess up something else in the computer! Which is stupid, because I have PUT IN CARDS BEFORE. Ack.

Do not fear the card. It's so easy even I could do it.

I have a modem already, but I doubt it's wireless capable because they want to soak you more cash for the SPECIAL modem. I'm going to go to SatanMart and find out what they've got there.
