Why did they tell you to be wary? They do seem rather...fragile, which is why I bought a case and holster and such. I have a feeling they'd be fucked up if I dropped them.
Software bugs, the buttons seem to sometimes die (like- some phones just have dud buttons after a bit. Some don't. It's a lemon-in-hiding kind of thing.) Various complaints along those lines.
Also, on one of the floor models I was looking at, the hinge seemed really crappy and cheap, so that made me leery, too, since I am horribly hard on my hardware. If you're more careful than I am that probably won't be too problematic. :)
i had the black v3 (and andrea has it now!) for a while. pretty phone and i loved it but i needed it to do MORE STUFF MORE MORE MORE plus i never did quite get over my long-simmering hatred of all things motorola. first phone i got kept on quitting on me but when i went to the repair centre they just gave me a new one, few questions asked. so it was cool after that. my brother in law is using it now.
i really need a shiny-technology icon. i could go on for days.
...what more things did you need it to do? Like, wash your back and read Faust?
Okay, I know that there are phones that record ten million hours of footage and let you record sound files for ringtones and things. But this seems extremely feature-heavy to me, since my phone did NOTHING AT ALL.
no, motorola annoys me because it doesn't let you (well, the original v3 doesn't anyway) use a high-bitrate mp3 ringtone. you have to transfer the mp3 to their PC software suite where the bitrate's lowered to 32kbs, which is relatively okay for some songs and not for others. it's not like other brands have that great speakers either which means you're never going to get GREAT sound out of your phone, but it irked nonetheless

Oh, see, most of that stuff isn't anything I'd care about. I have a 20 gig mp3 player that's with me most places, and I don't see using Bluetooth much because I'd have to buy equipment and probably add services onto my plan and I'm cheap. :)
However, now you can take PHOTOS of things. Even if they are crappy phone camera ones. :)

I'm not hard on phones, though, so I'm not terribly worried about the hinge.

He leans his hip against Brian and smiles at Kurt. "I'll have to buy you a coffee sometime. We can talk department politics."
