Because I promised the lovely ahestele, and I could use some reading material myself:

Rec me a book. I'm partial to fantasy, queer, and supernatural lit, not partial to het (though it's not a dealbreaker if the story is good). If you can't come up with a specific book, rec me an author whose works you love.

Thanks!

TANYA HUFF! That was the name! I knew someone'd recommended an author I wanted to read last time I asked. *writes down* I'm headed to the non-crappy library today, I can tell.

you might want to look for her "Valor" titles as well - Valor's Choice and The Better Part of Valor. military SF with a kickass female marine sergeant in a mixed company (human & alien). I think they're great reading, exciting and gripping.

Seconding the Tanya Huff rec, especially The Fire's Stone. (And lisan wrote me a FS story for my birthday a couple of years ago. I'm sure I can dig it up if you're interested after reading the novel.)

I'm hoping I can find them. The more I think about it, the more I'm getting a bad feeling that I've tried in the past and hit walls. The local library chain didn't have the ones I wanted, the B&N and the used bookstore were out, they were out of print...something. If nothing else, maybe I can Amazon them, but that's always a pain because I have no paypal or credit card. Meh.

*crosses fingers*

Don’t forget the fabulous ABEBooks. Unfortunately, I think I’ve run out of all of my extra copies of FS. (Note to self find more.)
