It's my birthday soon (July 27th) and I've been instructed to come up with gift ideas. There are a lot of things I could use yet don't want to buy for myself (a laptop charger, a spare tire, a spare blowup mattress, etc.), but apparently I'm supposed to pick something I'd like.

I want a mp3 player that doesn't cost a fortune, is easy to use with my PC (not a lot of format changing, compatibility issues, or extra equipment) and generates music that can be played through the speakers of my car. Which one should I choose and why?
