i also didn't purposely drop in the XFiles, but once i saw it on your list, i was glad of it and kept it in instead of tossing it to the cutting room floor. i just had this great image of Kurt's big wide eyes (and i'm with him - i may have been projecting a bit there) when he gets really really still and only his mouth moves? and i ADORE Kurt & Mercedes, so i suppose some of my own affections came out in it too. characterization is always my biggest fear - that i'll interpret something that no one else sees and therefore isn't quite on, but i'm really happy it felt right to you.
i totally thought up the mashup, and i can't possibly create it (alas! because i think it would be awesome too!). i was skimming my ipod for songs and listening to "Blister in the Sun" had just the right beat and "Hey Ya" came into my head totally out of nowhere, and i just couldn't NOT mention it, and i felt it went well with the idea that Sookie picks up later from Will that they're doing a lot on their own. plus Finn is just so eager about everything hehehe
crossovers are pretty much my favoritest thing to do in the history of fic-ever. i'm working on a series of one-shot How I Met Your Mother/Southern Vampire Series ones at the moment, haha
i'm really so happy you liked, because it was naturally frought with trepidation and dare i say i'm gleeful at your effusive review? yays :o)
(and actually, it was almost a completely different story...i originally had a Hoyt/Jessica move to Ohio thing going, but it just wasn't panning out right, and this one kinda wrote itself in about half an hour, with the other three hours spent trying to choose a song haha)
