What a fascinating premise and the way this first part unfolds has me sitting on the edge of my seat. I love the humour (so very Adam) that permeates this story and the attention to detail with the set up (why Adam ends up on the ship, how they get to the island, his friendship and then more intimate relationship with Richard) makes the story feel much more real...to the point where, when Jacob is speaking with Adam about balance and how the darkness is more present in him now than before, actually made my heart race. The emotional tension you've managed to convey is quite striking.
Not only does Adam come across as this very complicated and intriguing character (I dig how his immortality makes certain things more profound -- his attention to detail and noting when things are "off" and a willingness to explore that later, knowing he has all the time in the damn world...as well the notion of him biding his time until the next century and look where the decision for a pleasurable go at sea has turned out) but I think you've also captured Richard and Jacob really well. These are all characters I already love on the show and you've rendered them beautifully here.
Onto the next part!

That said, oops. I hope your attempts were successful. ;)
And I'm so glad you liked the premise! It really was the first thing that popped into my head when I read the prompt and then I had to do it. It's so great to know that you liked the POV, because I had never written Adam before and the last time I wrote Heroes was probably during S2, so that totally makes me relieved. ;) I did really love the character and I was really trying to convey at least one tenth of how complex he is/was in canon, so when I read this comment I was seriously gloating. ;) And thanks also regarding the other two, especially Richard because while I oddly find Jacob a lot of fun to write Richard for me is still an enigma so he was probably on par with Adam in terms of fretting over characterization. Thank you!
