Melting Pot Fondue

My friend Lindsay is awesome.

Quick background: her boyfriend, my friend Tyler, is on the road for a couple months (currently: Canada) with Fall Out Boy as a personal trainer for Andy Hurley. Yes, he is the same Tyler mentioned in that Wikipedia entry, and I know a little something about the mentioned comic book. I think I actually owe Tyler some lettering samples. Also, I worked with Lindsay at Meeting Grounds, the coffee shop Tyler's mom owns. Tyler is also a customer at the comic book store, and I first met his mom while I worked at Steep & Brew.

Anyways, Lindsay text-messaged me this morning, and we decided to hang out tonight. First, she brought me vegan (she's vegetarian; Tyler is vegan) chocolate peanut butter cupcakes that are amazing! Trying to decide what to do after work, she mentioned fondue at Melting Pot, here on Madison's west side.

We both decided we could have just gone for dessert. Dark chocolate for dipping... mmm. Also, the cheese was okay, but we both would have preferred the vegetables from the main course for dipping into the cheese. Bread and a few random vegetables doesn't really cut it. Also, the broth for the main course was just... eh. It doesn't help that it seems to take forever to cook so little food.

So if you go, go for dessert.

I also had a nice white wine sampler. Apparently, I am a fan of pinot grigio.

Our waitress was awesome. She had some sass, in the good way.

Lindsay paid, as my birthday present (even though I thought the cupcakes were more than enough).

I wish I could go to Chicago with Lindsay in 2 weeks, but I have to work... or do I? After all, I do make the schedule.
