Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Just saw the midnight showing.

Am dead tired, but not enough that I can't write up a quick overview for it.

The movie really wasn't all that bad. In fact, I thought it was really good.

I sort of gave up on canon Potter after the fifth book, but I still like it enough to read the fanfics (I can say the same thing with Naruto. And I hate Naruto).

Anyway, I woke up at eight in the morning so I could buy the tickets early with my friend. That didn't happen as I got into a car wreak (completely unexpected and I think I gave my parents grief, but I'm sure they'll get over it).  So my friend and I just bought the tickets online. For a while we were like "What are we going to do?" because we couldn't drive my car and we wanted to get there early to get the GOOD seats. But it seems we didn't have to worry all that much as we did find a ride with my friend's father (who now affectionately calls me "Crash". Which isn't that big of an improvement from "Direction-Challenged Asian Girl").
So we actually got there around 7 P.M.  Sat around with HP-geeks and had a generally potterific good time.

Okay, movie time.

First thing I see as the movie starts is a black chick hitting on Harry (she's a muggle btw). Nice beginning. Made everyone laugh. From there we immediately go introduce Slughorn (who looked exactly as I imagined him; I was very happy with Slughorn). Then we went to the Burrow. With Ginny (she's grown up btw. Body-wise anyway, otherwise she still looks like a little girl and I'm sure the directors felt guilty about any makeout scenes they were planning. If they didn't, shame on them). Don't like Ginny much (probably why I hate book 5+6+7).

Of course, to make up for all my dislike, Luna is full of awesome-sauce and I really can't help but like her. She's so cool and weird. v

I believe this is the first movie where we see Narcissa. Haha, some of my friends raised a stink about her hair being dual colored instead of being "blonde" as we all figured she would be. One of my good friends shaneey thought she looked like a skunk (which I luled at).

Haha, and I think the Lavender Brown part was one of the best scenes in the movie. She's so creepy I couldn't help but like her. She didn't come off cute in the book at all (much more like a obsessive bitch), but I really liked her in the movie. (Plus the Romilda Vane part was amazing. Rupert Grint has gotten exponetionally better at acting. It's a "watch to understand" sort of thing, but he was just so funny.)

Speaking of cute and funny, I wanted to eat Harry (possibly the only time in the entire movie when I did) after he drank the Felix potion. He was just so cute! After meeting the dead Aragog, he did this little pincer thing with his fingers and I melted in my seat and couldn't stop going "AWWW." I wanted to bite him. In a good way.

I think the acting in his movie was just pretty good in general. In the scene where Katie Bell touches the cursed necklace, she did these amazing jerking moves then flew up into the air looking like the possessed girl from the Exorsist. It was so scary good. And Dumbledore's scene at the end was very heartbreaking as he was crying while being forced to drink the potion. It really touched my heart that, even as he was on the verge of his own death, he summoned up enough strength to pull off a Gandalf ("YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!") to save Harry. Touch my heart.

And I guess Draco played a major role, but I really have... nothing big to say on him.

Way to go, Malfoy.
