Promise to Me
It was January something the day I met you. To this day I truly feel like a worthless being for not remembering the exact date, but all that really matters is from that moment I first laid eyes on you, I knew I loved you.
Love is an irrational thing that one just simply can’t explain or put into words. It just happens and when it does, you know you’re meant to be with that person. When I tried to explain that to you only after a minute of meeting you, you called me a creep and told me that if I came near you again you would file a restraining order against me.
Though now looking back, I don’t blame you. I would have freaked myself out too. That probably wasn’t the best things to talk about at the time.
Do you remember where it was we first met? I’m sure you do because I sure remember. How could I not?
It was at the grocery store and I was having a difficult time on which brand of toilet paper to buy (one was really soft, but the other was cheap…) so I looked down the aisle hoping to find an employee to help me, but instead I found someone better; You, who was reaching for the toilet paper made of recycled papers.
That indeed was a very magical moment in my life.
I was completely captivated by your glowing beauty that I barely registered you were about to exit the aisle, but I managed to pull myself from the delirium and run to you, shouting to catch your attention. You turned around to look at me with confusion etched all over you cute face and I nearly died right there.
My first words were what made me look stupid.
“I love you.”
And soon you looked taken aback.
“Um, okay…I’m going to leave now…,” you said unsurely and clearly wanting to get rid of me, but before you could walk away I stopped you when I began speaking again.
“I know I sound crazy, but I sincerely love you. I can’t describe it but I just know-”
“You’re creepy, sir. Please let me go now so I can finish my shopping,” you cut me off.
I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose. Trying to talk to you would be a difficult task. “Okay how about this. I want you to know that you’re a beautiful person and I love you and instead of wasting several months or maybe years, we should just get married tomorrow-”
“M-Married?! Excuse me, but who the hell do you think you are?!” you screeched at me.
“Park Chanyeol,” I answered in all seriousness.
“Well, Park Chanyeol, I’m going to leave now, but if you ever start talking nonsense like this to me again I’m going to file a restraining order against you!” you said, yanking your arm from my hand and storming off in the opposite direction.
I knew that my approach may have been a mistake, but I knew that that encounter would not be the last time I would see you. I knew from that moment of just a simple glance that we were meant to be. We were soul mates. I just had to convince you of that.
You, whoever you were, were going to realize your love for me.
At that moment as I watched your retreating form practically run across the grocery store, I, being an amazing person who never breaks promises, made an important promise to myself:
I promised to make you mine one day.
