Summary: Found hanging onto the windowsill by his fingertips with the intention of robbing the place, Jongin isn’t sure how to explain the situation he’s in and he doesn’t fancy the idea of going to jail, and the guy who found him is kind of cute so Jongin blurts the first thing that pops in this head. “…You wanna make out?”
Baekhyun was a believer in soul mates and absolutely believed he had found his. And yeah, maybe that made him sound a little childish in some ways, but he was a romantic. His idea of love was finding someone as weird and annoying as he was and spending the rest of his life with that person, and Chanyeol was that exactly.
Kyungsoo often told him he was ridiculous.
As cliché as it was, Baekhyun often liked to reminisce his and Chanyeol’s history. Lying on his backside on the bed with Chanyeol occupying the shower, Baekhyun thought back to their first meeting and how perfect it was for them.
“Don’t you dare throw that at me, Byun Baekhyun,” Kyungsoo warned his friend, eyes blazing in a nonverbal threat to the other man.
Baekhyun, who was holding a perfectly shaped snowball in a throwing position and aiming it in Kyungsoo’s direction, smiled teasingly. “C’mon!” he called out. “Play with me!”
“Play with those little heathens you work with tomorrow,” Kyungsoo argued in return. “There will still be plenty of snow.”
“But if I hit one of them in the face I could get in trouble.”
Kyungsoo glared, staring at his ex-boyfriend suspiciously. “Are you planning on throwing that in my face?” he questioned, pointing an accusing finger at Baekhyun.
Baekhyun shrugged, choosing to say nothing as it was probably the safer option, but his eyes did the talking for him. Absolutely and it would be hilarious.
“You’re despicable,” Kyungsoo groaned with disgust, turning to walk away with his hands tucked into his warmed pockets.
Except Baekhyun didn’t care of the consequences, the child within him too peaked with mischief, and he threw the snowball anyway, grinning widely as he watched the snowball came in contact with Kyungsoo’s back.
Kyungsoo stopped abruptly and Baekhyun felt great satisfaction as his friend turned around, looking back with an irritated expression. “Was that fun to you?” he asked, thoroughly unamused.
Baekhyun smiled. “It would be more fun if you threw on back,” he said flirtatiously, trying to urge the other man to join him in normal winter fun activities.
Surrendering with a heavy sigh, Kyungsoo knelt down and grabbed a few handfuls of snow quickly before throwing it at Baekhyun who dodged it easily.
They continued on like that for a while, throwing packed snow at each other outside Baekhyun’s apartment complex, Kyungsoo’s snowballs often times missing Baekhyun’s agile body.
Before long, Kyungsoo’s clothes were covered in white and Baekhyun’s not so much, but it was plain as day that the two were enjoying themselves in the winter world.
Baekhyun cackled loudly when Kyungsoo slipped and landed on his butt, gathered, and gathered more snow before Kyungsoo could move away.
However by the time Baekhyun had gotten around to throwing the snowball, Kyungsoo had managed to miraculously dodge it and Baekhyun watched on in horror at the snowball hurtling at the stranger that decided to walk around the corner at that moment, and colliding with the nameless man’s unsuspecting face.
The man was all, giant-like almost, and has the most ridiculous perm Baekhyun had the misfortune of seeing in his life. The remnants of snow fell from the man’s face revealing an utmost confused expression, eyes widened and mouth gaping speechlessly as he stood frozen.
Baekhyun stepped forward timidly, looking apologetic and wishing he was invisible at that moment. “S-Sorry about that,” he apologized, voice weak and hoping the stranger wasn’t too angry or upset. “I meant to throw that at my friend over there…”
Baekhyun words trailed off as he pointed in the general direction of where he’d seen Kyungsoo move to, except there was no Kyungsoo In sight when he looked over.
“Okay, there was someone there because we were having a snowball fight, but apparently he decided to ditch me,” Baekhyun explained hurriedly, attempting to laugh it off.
“I’ll take your word for it. I didn’t think you were throwing snowballs at random people anyway,” the nameless man said tolerantly, but furrowed his brows before adding, “At least, I really hope not.”
“No, I wasn’t, don’t worry. So, no harm done?”
“None. However, I still didn’t appreciate a snowball to my face.”
“Again, sorry…”
“It’s cool, but just a moment…,” the man said before quickly grabbing a handful of snow from the ground and shoved it in Baekhyun’s face, catching him off guard.
Baekhyun sputtered, frantically wiping his face clean of the cold snow, while the stranger howled loudly with laughter.
“You didn’t expect that, did you?” the man said loudly, his arm clutching his stomach as he laughed and a wide smile taking up half his face. “Okay, now we’re even.”
“Even?” Baekhyun stared up at the tall gay with a competitive glint flashing in his eyes.
“We’ll see about that.”
Without needing an explanation, the tall man back up, still smiling, as Baekhyun grabbed more snow from the ground and began throwing it wildly at his new snowball fight partner. The two grown men chased each other all around the parking lot of the apartment complex, slipping and sliding occasionally as they dodged the flying snowballs, but both of them wearing matching smiles.
Kyungsoo watched on from Baekhyun’s apartment window, sipping on a mug of hot chocolate with whipped cream, judging them from above. How bizarre.
But even he couldn’t deny the sight was partially cute. Just a little bit.
Baekhyun ran and ran, dodging flying snowballs being flung his way, until he slipped and fell on an icy patch and hitting his elbow on the hard pavement. Groaning, his rubbed his sore limb, grimacing at the unpleasant feeling.
“Hey, are you okay?” his snowball fight opponent asked concernedly, kneeling down in front of Baekhyun.
“Yeah, all good,” Baekhyun replied, shaking it off. Looking up, he realized just how close the man’s face was to his and while it was surprising, it wasn’t uncomfortable. “Um. I’m
Baekhyun, by the way,” he introduced himself, remembering he hadn’t done that before.
“Pleasure to meet you, Baekhyun. I’m Chanyeol,” the man said in reply, offering a hand to Baekhyun who took it, then unexpectedly was pulled up to his feet.
Baekhyun liked the way Chanyeol’s hand felt holding his own.
“May I be blunt?” Chanyeol asked, looking nervous as he glanced at Baekhyun. Baekhyun nodded, giving him permission. Chanyeol took a deep breath before continuing, “I think you’re pretty cool and do you maybe want to get coffee sometime?”
“Sure he will!” a shout rang from above the pair, who looked up in surprise to see Kyungsoo sporting a shit-eating grin.
Baekhyun rolled his eyes, but nodded in agreement to Kyungsoo’s statement. “Pick me up tomorrow afternoon?”
Chanyeol grinned widely and everything from then on fell into place.
Back to the present with Baekhyun still lying in his bed, smiling as he recalled the first encounter. It was like a scene right out from one of the chick-flick movies he liked watching, how did he get so lucky?
God, he was such a sap.
Chanyeol returned from the bathroom, showered and fresh, and plopped himself down on the bed right next to his boyfriend, kissing Baekhyun’s temple. “What are you doing, Baek?” he asked, wrapping his long arms around the smaller man.
Baekhyun shook his head. “Just thinking. Have I told you I love you?”
“Yes, but I love hearing it every time you say it.”
Baekhyun leaned over and kissed him, whispering quiet “I love yous” to his special giant. It didn’t take long for things to get heated and soon Chanyeol was hovering over Baekhyun, handing roaming hot skin. Baekhyun reached over and flipped off the light switch.
They didn’t get to sleep until waylater.
