This is part of an email I sent to one of my girlfriends.
I thought it was kinda interesting so I decided to save it here.
Well, the rest of my day went like this:
I got an email from this guy I found on craigslist who was selling a utility trailer to $75. He had 10 answers for it but I managed to make an appointment with him first.
So in my infinite wisdom I put away $200 in my room where I would not be tempted to spend it. So I had to go home and get it now. I got off work early went home, got $100 out of my room and went to Kragen to buy a 1 7/8" tow ball.
I got the ball and headed for Paige's. On my way I got $50 worth of gas. Oops, now I don't have enough for the trailer. made it to Paige's and went to take the 2" ball off my hitch to replace it with the 1 7/8".
This is when I realize that I need a ludicrously large wrench too loosen the nut. After trying several different ways to remove this nut I finally went to K-Mart and bought a ludicrously large wrench.
I didn't waste any time. I put the hitch on the back of my jeep and tried to undo this nut. It would not budge. Then I sat on the pavement and put my feet on the bumper and pulled on the wrench with all my might. Nothing.
Went back to Paige's where we tried banging on the wrench with a hammer. Nothing. Then i thought of something. I put the hitch in sideways, put the ludicrously large wrench on and stood on it. Bouncity, bouncity, bouncity... and the nut came loose.
Paige had a $100 bill so I borrowed hers to save me an extra trip home before leaving for Vallejo.
Fought commute traffic on the 37 to get to Vallejo, hoping that the guy is still there when we get there.
He was still there, taking bricks out of the trailer, brick after brick after brick. Lots and lots of bricks. I helped unload the bricks and clean out the trailer and we got it signed off and everything. Hooked up the trailer and I found out that i do have a plug ont eh back of my jeep for the trailer's lights. Too bad it was the wrong kind.
So I went to Kragen in Vallejo and and bought another plug for the trailer that would fit the jeep. Even had someone from the shop come out and look at it first.
Bought the plug as the cashier reminded me that all sales are final on these parts. I was like "yeah yeah I know this is the one I need".
Well it looked like the one I needed, but it was smaller. (Slaps forehead) It was all they had that came even close.
Drove back to Paige's with no working taillights. The trailer was going thumpa thumpa thumpa all through town. Then back on the freeway,
thumpathumpathumpathumpathumpathumpathumpathumpathumpa.
All the way back to Paige's place.
Got back and I saw that one of the tires was missing a chunk of tread. Need new tires "doh".
No time to worry about that now. There is a Ludicrously large U-Haul at my place waiting for me to help load it with anything big. So I got there and we moved furniture until about 9:30 PM. While we were doing this Paige rolled by and said I had all of her money. So I went to my room and gave her my remaining $100. This is how I don't save money all too well.
Then I made it back to Paige's house, we went to bed at 11. She had to leave the next morning at 4am.
