India's building cremation pyres in parking lots and parks now.
The pyres referenced in the article look anything but makeshift to me. They could have done a neater job with the concrete underlayment, but the pyres themselves look well-finished and professional, with even a black tile surround.
What I'm starting to wonder now is where is all the seasoned wood for these cremations coming from? Open-air cremation is far and away the preferred type of funeral in India. I'm sure that there are entire warehouses filled with ready-to-use firewood, but there has to be a finite amount available, and I strongly suspect that use is outstripping production ATM. They are, dare I say it, burning through their reserves.

Meanwhile, Gretchen Whitmer does her level best to turn Michigan into Little India. I'd not really mind, except that I have friends who live there, plus there are legal complications to restricting cross-border traffic between states, so that we get their spillover infecting us here in Indiana.
