And just like a James Bond villain, he thought he was invincible and totally in control, just before he gets annihilated.

Just saw a video of the hit. Several missiles were fired at the convoy over a period of about 15 seconds, so maybe he did get to experience some terror at the realisation of his imminent demise, after all.

Reportedly (and I've seen pictures of this, too), the fatal explosion severed Soleimani's genitals off his torso. Emasculation is considered an extreme insult in Islam. First, Trump sends unclean dogs to kill Baghdadi. Now, he castrates Soleimani at the moment of his death. Even Michael Corleone couldn't come up with more symbolically demeaning methods of dispatching his enemies.
