They're shooting arrows at people in Hong Kong! Even in my most deranged imaginings of mayhem, I didn't expect that. The BBC, reliably, continues to describe the violent revolutionaries as "demonstrators" and "protestors". Admittedly, the Chinese continue to describe them as "rioters", when it's obviously passed beyond that. Both sides have their agenda.
This whole thing could have been solved *so* easily back in June, had the government been even a tiny bit flexible. They could probably have gotten everything they wanted, even, had they been willing to fake concern for other viewpoints and show patience in their agenda. As much as I admire the Chinese, their government sometimes carries on like a third-world ex-colonial outfit, rather than a Great Power.
