Everyone else was doing it!

Stats

I posted 16 podfics this year.

The longest podfic was What I Go to School For, which was 1 hour, 7 minutes and 8 seconds long.

The shortest podfic was Untitled by turps, which was 4 minutes and 11 seconds long.

The total amount of podfic I recorded this year was 4 hours, 37 minutes and 18 seconds.

What was the best podfic/fic you made this year?

I don’t think there’s really one that stands out from the rest. There’s always one part of every podfic I make that makes me cringe. But the only podfic of mine I can actually listen to is The One Where Frank Has an Evil Twin, maybe because it’s not!fic. But production wise, I don’t really think it’s better than any of my others.

Most Under appreciated?

Probably A Hero or a Grinder. It's probably got the same amount of feedback as a lot of my other podfics, but I guess I expected more of a reaction? I think because I thought the fic was so amazing. Though I did get awesome feedback from the author, which was really great.

Personal favourite, for whatever reason?

The One Where Frank Has an Evil Twin again, just because, yeah, I can listen to it and not want to claw my ears off. Also I like the moustache on the cover art.

Most difficult to make?

Buzzed. Fuck. I don’t know what it was but the editing took forever! I think I thought the fic was actually shorter than it was, so the editing just seemed to drag. But I really liked the end result.

Most “ah ha ha I can’t believe I’m doing this”?

Every single sex scene where there's dialogue. I like recording it but I do get an 'I can't believe I'm doing this' moment, especially when I’m saying something like ‘ngh’ (HOW DO YOU EVEN PRONOUNCE THAT) or like ‘Oh yeah baby just like that, fuck, want your cock.’ The worst part is listening to myself say it when I edit. /o\

Most fun to make?

Definitely The One Where Frank Has an Evil Twin. Recording not!fic is always so enjoyable and this was particularly fun. Also the editing wasn't too bad, which really helped.

Was there one that didn’t turn out the way you wanted?

A Delicate Art. I wish I could have made it funnier. *shrugs*

Biggest learning experience?

- Learning how to use Audacity. I only started podficcing at the beginning of this year, so the program was completely foreign to me.

- Learning to read with ~emotion, so my recordings weren't so boring to listen to.

- Learning how to host podfic audio files using Paraka's awesome website, which was made a lot easier by her tutorial video.

- Beginning to colour code for dialogue.

What’s next? Do you have any podfic goals for next year?

-Finish my WIP podfic Public Enemy by tabulaxrasa. This is one of the longest podfics I've attempted to create and the first where I've really tried to include sound effects, music, ect. I want it finished by next June.

-Finish Yup. by theopteryx. It's another not!fic, so it's a lot of fun to record.

-Record more not!fic/crack!fic in general. I think this is the kind of fic I'm best at podficcing, that I enjoy recording most and which you guys seem to enjoy the most, so wins all round.

-Maybe podfic This Never Happened by Bexless. Maybe. klb's version is so amazing and is one of my favourite podfics, so it's a bit daunting, but I really would like to try. It’s on my secret ‘want to podfic’ list.
