So I'm in Alaska!!! It's 10am here...which means that it is 2pm in Florida...and I just woke up! That is just one of the many heavenly things I have done here by my first day! So let me just start from the beginning.
So I planned to get to bed at 10pm the night before my flights, but I actually ended up falling asleep around 2am due to excitement and being on the phone with Keith. Then my alarm to wake up promply went off at 3:30am!
My plane ride from Orlando to Minneapolis was heavenly...I got an entire row of seats and a window to myself! The next plane I got on to head to Anchorage was not so great...the whole plane was PACKED and I had to sit next to this insane lady and her son who she NEVER stopped yelling at. The other bad part was that they put me in the one and only row on the whole plane that only had HALF A WINDOW! I was so pissed...but through that half a window I flew over some of the most amazing things I have ever seen. Endless snowcapped mountains surrounded by turquoise lakes and the winding rivers that fed them. By about the 4th hour on that plane I started to feel a little bit sick, maybe motion sickness, or maybe the fact that I hadn't stood up all day. It also didn't help that the lady sitting in the seat ahead of me threw up 3 times over the entire plane ride. Finally I landed in Anchorage and I hopped on my last plane, which ended up only being half an hour, to Fairbanks. I arrived at about 5pm, which is 9pm in Florida. I was starting to get tired. And there at the airport was Keith to greet me!
He looks amazing, btw, he put on a lot of wieght here in Alaska, and has big muscles, a beard, mustache and long hair! You'll have to see him in person to believe it...
Keith, his Aunt and I headed straight to the grocery store called Frank Mills or something (they have no Publix, Target, ANYTHING up here) and his Aunt bought the hugest most heavenly steaks and 12 ears of corn to cook for dinner!! Then we drove to her house, which is a huge, 2 story castle with a game room, and 5 bedrooms! We then ate the greatest dinner which also consisted of the steak, corn, and fresh veggies from her garden, and some of which only grow in Alaska and I've never even heard of before. Then Kieth decided he would take me "sight seeing". He drove me around town to this Alaskan Pipeline that runs all through the mountains, then to see REINDEER, then to the top of a mountain where we looked down on the city and the sunset that never ended. By the time we got there, it was 10 at night in Alaska, but it looked like it was about 7, due to the fact that the sun never really sets here, at least at this time of year. So yeah it was 2am Florida time and I was starting to get really cranky since I only slept about 2 hours in the past 2 days...so Keith took me home to this KING SIZED featherbed where I slept like a baby, until now! I feel like I have been sleeping all day and it's only 10 in the morning! The only creepy thing about Alaska is that no one locks anything, windows, houses and cars..are all left open. When his Aunt was driving us around, she would leave the keys in the ignition when she got out! When we were on the top of the mountain, these other people pulled up next to us in their car, left the doors wide open, keys and purse still in the car, and took off hiking. This morning when I woke up, the front door was wide open, along with every window and other door in the house. So thats creepy, but anyways, today I am looking forward to more heavenly food, sightseeing, and possibly the fair? Who knows, I'll keep you posted!
P.S. It's 65 degrees here, how does it feel in Florida??!!!! hahahaha
