READ THIS, IT'S WORTH YOUR TIME!
So I know I never really post anymore, and the truth is nothing THAT amazing has happened that I have felt the need to share with anyone, but today really was awesome. I went to work today with a lot of anguish and resentment and when I left I may have finished with the biggest smile I have yet to leave that place with. For those of you that don't know, I work at M. Fredric. It's a retail store that carries a variety of clothes for both men and women, children and teens. Around 2:00 a man of probably 30 maybe 31 entered my store with a woman and her daughter. Initially I assumed it the gentleman and woman were married but then after engaging in conversation with them I learned that they coincidentally went to the same gym and had run into eachother just before lunch. The man invited the lady and her daughter to lunch and I presume asked if they'd like to accompany him in a walk through the commons after. The little girl tried on a few outfits then finally chose one and being the kind-hearted, generous person that I soon learned he was, the man paid for the outfit. But here's the thing, that is not what shocked me. When ANYBODY makes a purchase at any M. Fredric store, it is required that all associates ask if the customer would like to make a donation to research for breast cancer. So, doing my job, I said "would you like to make a donation in the fight against breast cancer today?" The gentleman smiled and replied "you just had to ask didn't you?" in which I said "we ask everybody, and for every dollar you donate, we (meaning m. fredric) donate 25 cents." The man then opened his wallet, put away the hundred dollar bill he was going to pay for the outfit with then took out a credit card still smiling and said "I'll donate $200." It was such a rewarding feeling and it sent chills down my spine. From 2:00 until I left work at 4:30 I had the biggest smile on my face. I guess I should be really excited every time someone donates to breast cancer even if it's just a dollar but for some reason I felt really good when I left work today. Next time you buy something in one of the M. Fredric stores and someone asks you if you wanna make a donation to breast cancer research, don't bush the question off, say yes even if it means you can't see a movie because you're a dollar short, every little bit helps.
