A entry straight from costa rica!
I´m in costa rica, in an internet cafe. and the keyboard has spanish, and is different, and its sucks. Norma, couldnt remember your email so ill just update here. i miss everyone, but i am having so much fun! yesterday we went to the beach and a nature reserve, and another beach. i got realyl sunburned, but oh well! i am thinking in spanish, and its hard not to speak with a spanish accent! hahaha. today was activity with family day, and we went to an amusement park in san jose. i love my family, they are sooo awesome. everyone agrees i got the best family. sam´s family sucks and never talks to her, and katie´s sister is the bitch in the group, but we are all having fun. tomorrow is the zipline canopy tour, and then same, mariana, and i are going shopping, and sam is sleeping over at mariana´s. its all just so much fun. i have bought so much, and my favorite thing here is notebooks made of recycled banana paper. i bought jelwery, and a wooden ring that fits perfectly for a dollar!!! and gafas del sol, of course. (sunglasses!) haha. all the boys are so cute, especially luis (who is not a boy, is a man! haha and hot.) and hes flirty.. but hes a teacher, and like 25.. oh well! haha. Norma, tell mom i will call later in the week after i buy a costa rican phone card, because mine will not work. I miss you all. This is the experience of a lifetime, and i cannot handle it - is alot of fun. friday i was really tired, and is started crying at our party, but i am much better now - i even think i am going to lose lots of weight because i eat nothing, and am not hungry. i try lots of things, but i am not eating much at all... not even equivalent to one meal a day, but im not hungry so its ok. except, yesterday at the restaurant in Jaco i had Maji Maji (dolphin fish) and it was SOOO GOOD! i want more more more. hahaha.
oh, when i get back i will write more, i am keeping a journal.
i bought this awesome handmade photo album, made of banana paper, with a star on it that says COSTA RICA, for 11 dollars. that was the most expensive thing, things are cheap. today mariana´s brother took me to a shop with ceramic ware, and i got lots of stuff for myself and mom. Mom, I´m sorry, i might spend all my money. thigns are cheap, but not that cheap, and i want EVERYTHING! dont worry, im not buying things like clothes, although i bought a new pair of sandals at the beach because my broke - but that was necessity. Norma - how is the man? anything good lately? haha. Byron and I might go to prom together.
my host mother is the best. we cannot communicate well at all, because she knows no english, but shes always making sure i am ok, and always trying to make me eat! all i eat is fruit.. and it is soo good!ç
OH!!! yesterday morning i got up at 330 am and we went to the ¨fair¨, the market. its huge, the size of a county fair, set up with stands and every fruit and vegetable i´ve ever seen, and the ones i havent. and i love market style shopping, with bartering and such! i bartered for a wooden box, and talked the guy down to 2000 colones from 5000 colones! (10 dollars down to 4 dollars! )haha I rock. mr. hy said so haha. mr. hy is really cool as a person, just not as a teacher. i think i might kill amanda kelly. oh well. Sam, brian, and i are having lots of fun.. oh, and Bethany, mr. hy´s daughter. shes a sweetie.
Mariana´s neices and nephews keep asking ¨¿donde esta la gringa?¨ where is the gringa? haha, i am the gringa. and el americano estupido. haha stupid american. oh well!
i am seriously having the time of my life. i feel good, i get to shop shop shop, and i am going to be tan when i return to the states. yay.
school is very boring... there is nothing for us to do, and the teachers all talk very fast so we cannot understand. the students are all very focused on school work. they only have jobs on summer vacation, and when brian, sam, and i told them we work and go to school, they about had a fit. jaws dropped all over the place. oh well haha it was soo funny.
all in all, i love it here. the shops, the people, the countryside - its all so awesome. brian and i want to live here, except it is sooo tiring trying to speak spanish. i have already filled 3 cameras, and tomorrow i am buying more - mama, i knew i would need like 10 or 12! haha - developing is gonna cost me money...
oh! marianá´s father is a truck driver just like mine! and her brothers as well. they gave me two tshirts for dad from their companies... its soo cool.
alas, i hate beans but like rice. and fish. yum.
..right now im breaking the rules. i am alone in the internet cafe in belen, and mariana is with her boyfriend.. and we are not supposed to be alone.. but she will be back in 10 minutes, only gone for 45 minutes.. i will be fine, there are lots of people around, but boy do i feel badass! haha.
its cool, 300 colones for an hour on the computer. about 75 cents! haha it works for me. I am not in a rich family like amanda, maureen, katie, and brian.. so we dont have a computer - but oh well, the cafes are cool.
did i mention i miss you guys? but im surprised... i havent been homesick at all. just really tired, because we are always out late, and get up SOOOO early. today i slept the latest i will be able to all week, and that was til 8. all the rest of the week i have to be up by 5. ugh. oh well, its worth it all.
its worth all the money, strife, and missing out on things in the states.
