Civilization as we know it is so fucked. The world is on a downward spiral and no one seems intent on stopping it. The problems are so inherent in the social systems we've been abiding to for thousands of years that it'll take a massive upheaval of what kind of society we're running before any real progress, real change, is made.
A resource based economy, for example. That's the kind of fucking change I want to see. I am sad to say I don't think it'll happen until a) a country obliterates itself, b)a country obliterates another one, c)people start burning it all to the ground and start over. I cross my fingers it'll be the latter, and that it'll be in my lifetime. It's possible, considering we're gonna run out of oil in like five years or something. Until you start teaching people how to think, problem solve, invent, create, live off the world, I don't think you'll have a breakaway from a system of slavery. We're told we have to work for a living and nothing pisses me off more. Perhaps one might say I'm being spoiled, that I'm lazy, that this thought system of a resource based economy is for low lives and people would just do nothing. But, I'm tempted to retort, so fucking WHAT if they do nothing. From far enough away all our lives are meaningless except for the 80 some odd years we get to perceive them in our own consciousness...why must we surrender that privilege to live in a system where we have to make money and slave for our best years. What about the world's energy, the connection we feel to all things and all the clusters of atoms that surround us? Some call it God, some call it Mother Nature. It's just kind of The Energy, the feeling you get when you talk to the stars or hear a beautiful sound or get pleasure chills down your spine from whatever does it for you. Shouldn't that connection, oneness, be the focus of our existence rather than these meaningless tasks we're forced to pursue? If no one had to work, if there was no money and capitalism ceased to exist, think of all that people WOULD do. Inventors could invent, musicians could make music, and things like competition and politics would be done to dust, for fortune's sake. I don't see how any person in their right mind would want to deny a life where they could choose to pursue any task they wish each day. Technology is at a point where we can harness the most natural of resources to supply endless energy and we're still burning billions of barrels of fossil fuels every damn day, and that just makes NO sense. But the top dawgs in the world are power-driven, money-driven and oil-driven and that's holding the rest of the world back from emerging into a new civilization where money doesn't matter and humanity thrives in it's truest, purest, most unbridled forms.
I want to see this change so badly, I wish for it more than anything else. But I'm just one person, and I'm living in this system, so I have two options. 1)Live off the grid and supply my own lifestyle, 2)Play the game to the point where people can start listening, and start burning everything to ground. I wouldn't feel/know any of this about the world or myself if it wasn't for falling in love, realizing the finite nature of our own existence and figuring we all got nothin' better to do than try to change the world. Right? Sigh. Now I just feel stupid.
