▌summary: There is an ancient story, passed down through generation to generation. It is a story of good and evil. They say five beings will appear and save the world. They must band together to defend their home, but obstacles will stand in their way. Powers will try to convince them to stray from the rightful pather. To pit them against each other. Five others tried and failed, now it is their turn. If they stray, they will fail and the would will cease to exist.

It was the weekend (finally) and that meant Jinho has to do some sort of chore. This weekend it was to clean up the attic. Anything that wasn't useful or worth keep was being sent to the Salvation Army.
He slumped onto the floor and started getting to work. Every once in awhile, he'd find something that brought back some memories.
As he searched, he came across something that reminded him of his childhood; A book his grandfather read to him all the time, 'The Fable'.
Jinho sat back against the wall and read softly to himself.
'There is a story as old as the world. A story of five beings who would save the world from certain doom. But they failed... It is said that the five have been reborn again and given a second chance.
Each member was given an name:
The one with Integrity
The one with Benevolence
The one with Valor
The one with Perception
The one with Knowledge
It is said that the first five failed because they did not stand together. It is believed that the one with Benevolence lost his way.'
Jinho's eyes widened. Suddenly images started shooting into his head. He grabbed his head as he fell to the ground. Memories of past events. Memories of them.

Flashback...
"Jaejoong!"
The blond turned his head to see Yunho running over to him. He smiled as Yunho came closer, "What is it?"
"Can you honestly believe it? Who would have thought that we would be two of the five! This is unbelievable. Everyone in the village is ecstatic," Yunho replied, smiling back.
JaeJoong chuckled, "This is a real honor. I was shocked at first, but I think everything will be alright with you around."
Yunho leaned forward and kissed JaeJoong, "As long as we have each other."

"NO! STOP!"
"You betrayed me!"
"JaeJoong, I-I didn't-"
JaeJoong held his hand up to Yunho as he glared, "I know what you did! I SAW YOU!"
"H-hyung, y-you're mistaken," Changmin tried.
"NO! I saw you two! You expect me to trust any of you?!"
Yoochun pulled Junsu away and tried to reached for Changmin and Yunho, but JaeJoong was too quick.
"NO!"

"AH!"
"Jinho!"
Jinho felt his mother wrap her arms around him. He held his head tightly. The pain increased as more memories of smiling faces, burning trees, then finally he saw the world burn.
His eyes opened as five faces came into his few. It was the five from before, but they looked different... they looked like others.
"T-them..."
"W-what? Jino, talk to me," his mother begged.
Jinho reached his hand out to the image, but soon everything went black.

Bright lights blurred his vision. He sat up slowly, resting a hand on his forehead. The pain was terrible and it felt like his head was going to explode.
"Are you awake?"
He slowly opened his eyes and stared at the figure in front of him. It was him. He was staring back at himself.
"W-who are you?"
"I'm you from years before," the other smiled
Jinho slowly stood up with the help of the other, "What is going on?"
"When you found your grandfather's book, you found my memories of the previous five. What had happened to them and why they failed. You saw what happened to the world," the other asked.
"I did... the world was covered in flames. I could hear screams and cries of agony," Jinho replied, looking down at the ground. It was a solid white color. He looked around and noticed that everything was white. He felt like he was in a white box, nothing else around.
The other nodded his head, "I remember the pain and the feeling of despair, but 'he' failed.'
Jinho tilted his head, "Who failed?"
"Even with the five defeated, 'he' was not able to control the world and as you saw, the flames engulfed plenty, but not everyone was killed. The world restarted and slowly it began to rebuild. He washed away all memories of that day a thousand years ago. Now his newest generation will try again," he replied.
"What can I do?"
"You must stop his plans. You must bring the five together and make sure that they stay together. Many things will stand in your way. Love will be the one obstacle that never withstands the test of time."
Jinho furrowed his eyebrows, "So I have to stop them from falling in love like JaeJoong and Yunho?"
The other shook his head, "Love may have torn them apart, but history doesn't always repeat itself. JaeJoong and Yunho's love failed because JaeJoong believed that Changmin was in love with Yunho, but he was wrong. The story will not be the same this time around. You must find out what will tear the two apart before it happens."
"But I don't-... Key and Jonghyun. It's Key and Jonghyun isn't it! Onew is Changmin and Taemin and Minho are Junsu and Yoochun!" Jinho exclaimed as he stared at himself.
The other nodded his head, smiling, "But Onew doesn't feel for Jonghyun. You must be cautious. Tread lightly."
Jinho nodded his head, "I will."
"Be well..."

"Jinho? Jinho!"
Jinho slowly opened his eyes and looked up to see his mother with tear stricken eyes. She leaned down and hugged him, "Oh, thank god. I so scared!"
He lifted his arm and patted his mother's back, "I'm sorry, mom. Don't worry. I'm fine now."
She pulled away and looked down at him, "Are you sure? Do you know how scared I was? Are you sure you are okay?"
Jinho nodded his head and looked out the window, "Yeah. I'm perfectly fine now."
