Wow, what a trip. I didn't get home until 4:30am this morning! I will get to that part later though....
Anywho, we left on Friday morning @ about 7am, drove all the way down there and got there @ about 11. We talked with my Uncle Cliff and Aunt Patty awhile, cuz they were there the day before us. After hearing all that my Uncle had to say about everything with my Grandpa, I started to cry. No1 had ever put it the way he did. They put m Granda in a Hospice, and for those of you who don't know what it is..... it's pretty much a place to be when you're going to die. The nurses wait on you hand and foot and give you whatever you want and make you as comfortable as possible, because you time is limited. The doctor said my Grandpa has from now to six months......
We went and seen him on Saturday. I was so afriad I wold cry when I walked in there. After passing the building about three times, lol, we finally got there. It was my family, Candice, and my grandma. My uncle and aunt stayed behind so we could visit. He is sooooo bruised up! The hosPITAL woke him up every hour to poke him with something or another. His arms just look horrible! His skin is so thin right now, that if he moves a certain way or something, it would pop open and start bleeding. It was horrible. We stayed and talked with him for awhile, and then when he told us he was tired we would leave. The hospice is only about 20 minutes from my Grandma's house. It is really nice in there though. REALLY nice. In the main room there is a big screen tv for the patients who can walk to sit in there and they can have the remote so you don't have to watch the news or something boring. The people visiting can too. You can also take animals in there to visit the patients. So a few days we took my grandparents dog Morgan, she really cheered up my Grandpa. Unfortunatley he is bed ridden. He can't get up and walk or anything.
I went to see him every time I could, except for once. Me, Dusty, Candice, and Megan, stayed behind so the adults could go see him. So we went and rented Elf and watched it. It was cute.
I was sad when my uncle and aunt left. The house always seems so empty when they go. Ecspecailly since my grandpa wasn't there either.... :( They left on Sunday morning cuz my uncle Cliff had to be back to work. It was fun with them though. It always is. Me and my aunt tease each other a lot. :)
For the first time I seen my grandma cry. It was sooo sad. I didn't like it. It all finally hit her that my grandpa is most likely never going home again. I wrote a poem about my grandpa while I was in school and every1 down there wanted to read it, well.................. my grandma, my uncle ken, aunt sue, mom, and a neighbor cried. I felt really bad. :( They said it did was supposed to, it made people think. They all said it was really good, but I think it's just cuz it's a really touchy subject right now.
So the rest of the trip was visiting him in the hospice and all. My aunt sue bought a little Christmas tree for his room, and me and Dusty decorated it for him and put some other stuff in the room for him. It was so cute, one day I was standing in front of the tree and he looked over and goes "some1 stole my tree!" then I moved...... lol. It was cute. He don't like the lights on cuz they hurt his eyes so his tree isn't on often and he can't see real well.
My family tried to get him home for the holidays and the remainder of him time, with a 24 hour nurse there, but his insurance doesn't cover it. So he has to stay there. :(
There was a nother patient there who was too cute. He is about 30 years old or so and has brain cancer. So I think his short term memory is messed up. I had to introduce myself every day and sometimes twice a day. He has no family though, so we all went out of our way everyday we were there to go and see him. He always walks around with a hat and a coat on inside. We didn't get to say goodbye though, cuz he was in bed the night we were last there. :( He was just so cute though! They had a lil puppy in their to visit the patients, and he was like "I'm babysitting, I don't mind though" and I asked the puppy's name and he was like "She don't have one, but she's french bull dog, maybe I'll name her frenchie". It was just too cute!
We left Georgia yesterday morning at 6am. Didn't get home until 4:30am THIS morining! The weather was HORRIBLE! So bad! My dad had to drive about 25mph in Ohio! It took us nine hours to get through there! My dad planned on being home @ about 6pm but it was just horrible in Ohio. Then we got a flat tire! My dad had to drive on it for 5 miles!!! He had to wait until the next exit!!! It was horrible! Then we had to get out in the freezing cold and change it. Every1 drove by us! Then....... two cops stopped and shown the light for my dad to see and they had to run a check on us. It was horrible. So cold.......... but we managed.......... got home at 4:30 and I went to bed and got up at about 3. Thank you Jesuse for getting us through it all. There were sooooooooooooooo many cars that ran off the road. You wouldn't believe how many!
Now every1 is yelling at me cuz they need the phone, lol. So I will talk to y'all later!
Luvs n' God Bless,
Ash
P.S. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!!
