silk screen hijinx

fucking christ.

so k-murder and i wanted to make awesome hoodies for our sisters for xmas. so we decided to silk screen them (or rather i said i would help and teach kindra how and we could do it together). So we get together a week ago and coat a screen. This was a pre-stretched, professional type screen. We let it dry in her basement. Then this past weekend we try to burn the screen, except the emulsion is 5 - 6 months old and it just scorches as opposed to setting, so that screen is fucked.

I come home on sunday night and decide to coat second screen, (i bought two when i bought them). Last night i get home at 11 pm and have to burn the screen if i'm going to have any prayer of getting hoodies made and not losing my mind. brand new emulsion courtesy of michael's and a 150w lightbulb, just like the god damn directions. except i break my piece of glass that lays over the top of the image and freak out about blowing a fan across lest it move the positive mid burn (causing doublage or worse yet, nothing!) yeah, good call, el-scorcho, fucking good bye screen number 2.

So now i have two frames. I go to united art tonight and get some silk screen by the yard.

I just got done hand stretching my first screen with a jenk ass staple gun and a little blood. it has been washed and is now sitting in front of a vent drying. Hopefully i'll coat it tonight and be able to ATTEMPT burn # 3 tomorrow night. that leaves thursday night for the printing.

this process has been heinous. it didn't go half as badly as this when shawn and i did it, and the only reason it went a quarter as badly is because our mount for the lights dropped too close to the screen while we weren't looking.

fuck.
