san francisco was good times...
eric drove the whole way up even though we took mark's cadillac... riding in style... we made it there in about 5 hours if you'll believe that...
we stayed at the hotel metropolis and the room had this window that you lifted up, like old-fashioned style, and we could lean out the window and watch people drinking 40s and making drug deals... we went to north beach where we went to city lights bookstore and i bought a book of pier paolo pasolini's poetry... then we stopped in some bakery and i got a canoli and espresso in one of those little tiny cups like it's supposed to come in... then we met up with my friend and ate pasta and drank wine, which was great because i've been craving real italian food for a couple months now... then we went to the museum mechanique and dropped a quarter into one of the arcade machines and watched an execution, some guy getting hung; wow!!! eric, mark, and i walked around in the mall on market for a while then went back to the room with a small bottle of skyy and i waited for sarah to call... we met up with sarah in the mission but eric and mark wanted to do their own thing, so they left... sarah and i barhopped across the city... i recited pasolini in poor italian accent... an older woman tried to hit on me at one of the bars... michael, whose house i once stayed at for a night a few years ago, showed up and we went back to his apartment and hung out... he's the complete opposite of the preppy i had met before... now he looks like jay from all the kevin smith films... i wanted to leave his apartment and walk back to my hotel cuz it was getting late/early but i waited till sarah was ready to leave and we went to some diner... i ate breakfast... elliot smith's "waltz #2" was playing but i didn't know who it was or what the song was at the time and it haunted me until last night when eddie finally told me what the song was... i had heard it in his new film, "the departure"... i got back to the hotel around 4 am...
the next morning we drove out to napa valley... the land was beautiful... we stopped in this town and got directions to where all the wineries were then had pizza... we went to the opus one winery... $25 a taste... i tried the 2001... the winery itself was amazing... the building was shaped like some kind of aztec temple... we stopped at some other little town on the way out of napa, too...
then eric drove us back home and we sang our version of the opra...
now i am stuck down here again and sad and missing you...
microsoft word took a big bite out of my novel for no apparent reason other than to fuck with me but i've written three good poems to make up for it...

love,
krk
