Not much of anything going on here that would interest anyone. The Drill Seargant turned out to be a prick. What did I expect? Absolutely nothing and I left him a message today to tell him that. Told him I wasn't his girlfriend and had no expectation of being so. So I didn't need an explanation, just would have appreciated the courtesy of telling me he couldn't make it or didn't want to go out because he initiated the date. Just thought he was a nice guy and my only expectation if you want to call it that was making a new friend and anything beyond that had yet to be determined. Told him I wanted to clear the air because it is inevitable we will work together and didn't want him thinking I was a bitter, pissed off woman just like all the rest of them running around Fort Knox and Radcliff. Told him to take care and I would see him around. I think I handled it pretty well. I just have this driven desire to be the bigger person and him not think he got one over on me. He or any other guy for that matter. So, I am so over that!!!
Other than that, work is hectic. I am getting the first real taste of how busy it will be once I am doing all the shit on my own if they move Dre out of the section or give me all her stuff which wracks my nerves. Between doing all the Chapters, Trainee Grads, not to mention the special cases I will have my hands full. Today I gave my first briefing (on my own) to a room full of basic trainee graduates. Then I got to yell at the training NCO because they sent them over unescorted without a Drill Seargant. One of the fringe benefits of being on the civilian side of the house; you get to yell at the soldiers and tell them when they do something unacceptable, turn them away or refuse service when they get stupid or act like idiots. Some of those privates looked like babies. Like they belonged at home with momma eatting oreos dipped in milk. Sad thing is, they are Army National Guard soldiers and will probably be deployed within the next year. Actually frightening to realize that many of the soldiers deployed are within this age range. Breaks my heart to even fathom a hair on their precious head being harmed but I just have to keep telling myself they signed up for it. Unfortunately in my job, I see many of the soldiers that fell victim to decietful, coniving recruiters. So I can't help but wonder how many of them knew exactly what they were getting into.
