Rant about diet community!

I just want to talk about how thankful I am to those supporting me on this journey. I know I don't talk about it all the time but this morning I really was overwhelmed with it. There's another live journal community i've been posting to specifically for people on South Beach. People hardly ever post on that site and i've come to realize the people there really aren't that supportive. I feel like every post I or anyone else makes the only responses are simply to critique the person's food choices and how they aren't following the diet in the right way.

For example...TECHNICALLY...you are supposed to make your own dressings. You could say you had a grilled chicken salad with lite italian dressing to avoid ordering a pizza and all they would reply with is..."you can't have that dressing unless it's home made!"

Let me add that in phase 1 you are technically not supposed to have carrots or peas...ummm yeah I don't follow that one either.

I reached my last straw this morning when I saw a response to my last posting where I raved about sugar-free jello....the only response I got was "that's not allowed until phase 2!"

The only reason I am saying this is to thank you for being supportive and encouraging...and also to state that YOU DON'T HAVE TO FOLLOW A DIET BY THE BOOK! Some people do great following a diet to the "T" but I would venture to say most people crash and burn. The reason I was successful in originally losing 60 lbs in 7 months was due to the fact I adapted the diet to adjust to real life! I also incorporated protein shakes and bars because I needed something easy to grab when I was in a hurry that also provided a lot of protein.

Don't get me wrong. I think South Beach is great to educate and give people a jump start...just like any well balanced diet plan...but I would suggest using these as references and guides rather than way of life.

Ok... i'm dont with my rant!
