Is there a season to give?

I stopped by Kroger during my lunch break today and saw something that made me sad. There was a man for the Salvation Army ringing a bell outside while an older gentleman passed him. The gentleman turned around and said “Isn’t it a bit early to be doing this? It’s not even Christmas time yet!”

Ok, well the Salvation Army guy was not dressed “Christmasey.” I am sure he was collecting money for Thanksgiving which happens to be next week. Not only did this man not give, he made a statement that was meant to frown upon what the Salvation Army man was doing (who was standing in the cold, volunteering his time). Should we really only give to help during Christmas time anyway? Or even just during a Holiday time?

I think not.

Anyway, this is not meant to frown on people who don’t give. But for Pete’s sake don’t look down on people who ARE giving or are giving their time to help those who need it!
