[Ahem. Julian is currently returning to the mansion from a rather boring meeting where he rather torturously (for Rogue at least) turned off his cell phone. He's just turning it on as he enters the foyer, a soft, mischievous smirk on ( Read more... )

[Why yes. Rogue is, in fact, hoping that her birthday could just sneak on by. Not that she'd been particularly hopeful but there had always been that little string of hope. So naturally, when she opened her door and saw all those things laying on her bed, she'd gaped at them for a few minutes before spinning on her heel and moving at a rather brisk pace towards his and Josh's room, hand already fumbling for her phone. She'd left a message with Josh (something along the lines of 'When you see him, tell him I'm looking for him') and sent him a text which read you didn't have to do that, sugar.

And now she's just sitting in her room with a book and trying not to look at the pretty and undoubtedly rather expensive presents from her millionaire boyfriend.]

[His lips pull up into a smile and he lets out a throaty chuckle at her message. He doesn't answer it; instead he slips the phone back into his slacks and continues onto her room. Her text doesn't do a thing to deter him or make him doubt anything - on the contrary, really. He expected it. Julian licks his lips and leans against her door jam, rapping on the slab of wood with his knuckles.]

[Rogue can't say that she's surprised when she opens the door and sees who it is. Instead, she just marks her page in her book, drops it on the dresser, and folds her arms across her chest.]

So how'd your meeting go?

[Really? It's going to be like that? All right, he decides. His smile lingers just barely and he looks to the ground a moment to hide it. His hands are in his pockets as he walks a few steps inside and closes the door with his powers. And then his eyes raise to hers; maybe they are caught for a split second by the dark corset and glitter of diamonds behind her.]

Usual. [He lifts a hand to flatten his tie.] I'm thinking of expanding, buying more property. How was your day, sweetheart?

Oh you know. The usual. [She gives a little shrug, holding his gaze with hers. And then she can't help but smile just a little bit. It's a smile that says 'I think I may be talking to a crazy person' and gets accompanied by the slightest yet amused shake of her head.] Although some crazy person did decide to leave diamonds on my bed...

[It's not that he doesn't realize what kind of smile that is... he's just over it. And he certainly smiles back slowly and suggestively, one of his eyebrows quirking up just so.] Yeah, that's weird. Maybe I have competition.

Uh-huh. [She gives him a look of disbelief because, well, honestly? Who else around the school would do something like this? But it's okay because she's just going to keep on giving him that smile with an extra side of disbelief.] Why do I get the feelin' that that crazy person was you?

[Julian hisses in a breath softly, takes a calculated slow step forward, closing a bit of space between them. His head is tipped down now, to better keep her gaze, his expression too convincingly innocent.] Yeah, maybe that was me.

[She drops all pretense of ignorance, her hands falling to her sides before reaching for his. There's a soft little sigh before she speaks, voice softer than before.] You didn't have to do this, sugah. Honestly.

Oh, 'honestly'? [He repeats her reassurance back to her gently, squeezing her hands, tugging at her arms gently as he takes a much larger step forward. He's dropped pretense too; he feels that constant affection for her stirring at her words. Yes, he did.] I did. I wanted to. You deserve it.

[Rogue doesn't know what to think right now. She feels like she shouldn't be surprised that he did this, (after all, there was the case of those Burberry gloves...) but she still is. She doesn't know how to react to shows of affection like this.] Julian, that's a diamond necklace over there and I'm pretty sure I don't want to know what it costs. [And maybe there's a faint blush on her cheeks now as she looks down.] It's too much.

[He can't help but smile a little at that, at her. He shakes his head just slightly. How does he even begin to tell her that if it's anything, it's not enough.] No, it's not. [It's with just a nudge of his telekinesis beneath her chin that he beckons her to meet his eyes. His voice is low when he speaks; his lashes too.] I'm not going to tell you how much it costs. It doesn't matter. Do you like it?

[The question catches her off guard and it's a moment before she answers. She drops her gaze away from his for a moment before meeting it again.] Do I...? I uhm... yeah. Yeah, I do.

Then it's yours. [He says this simply, because it is that simple to him. It's a small price to pay; he can't give her so much, but there's this. She likes the necklace, it's hers. He smiles reassuringly, releases one of her hands to lift his fingers. The necklace hovers aloft in a telekinetic glow, travels to their side.] Now can I see what it looks like on my beautiful girlfriend?

Thank you, Julian. [Her reply is equally simple as she pulls her other hand free from his and plucks the necklace free from the air. She goes to put it on, moving her hair to one side as she turns around. Gloves are no good for doing clasps.] Can you..?

[He takes the clasp from her fingers wordlessly, pleased with her easy acceptance. He works to close the necklace, letting out a slightly shaky exhale as he lets the delicate chain go, a little bit distracted by the skin at the nape of her neck. He tilts his head down just so, buries his nose into her hair, and closes his eyes. His hands rest on her shoulders.] You're welcome.
