[Emma's in pretty much the exact opposite state of Julian. She's just arrived back at the mansion from a day in the city filled dealing with company matters and a business lunch with an old friend. All in all, it's been a pleasant break from the matters of the school and Emma is in a lovely mood.

She merely raises an eyebrow as she catches sight of her battered and bruised protege in the hallway.]

Were there problems in the training session this morning? Because I do believe you've seen better days, dear.

IT SHOULD MAKE YOU FEEL VERY LOVED, REALLY kickasstelekine December 9 2010, 01:12:23 UTC
[Julian slows to a stop when Emma decides to strike up a conversation. He's tired, obviously so, and he reaches a hand up to gently touch beside the throbbing cut, looking to the floor. She's got a point, he has seen better ones.]

If you mean Magneto had problems with my face, then yeah.

[Uh yeah. It was Magneto. He was, you know, curious. After his regular sims. And it was on the easy setting, okay? It was in his clearance! He just saw it, and thought about how scared Rogue had been and... yeah.]

[Hey, she's allowed to stop and chat with her favourite protege if she wants to. Emma raises an eyebrow at his choice in simulations and what she considers to be a bit of stupidity.]

You ran a Magneto simulation on your own?

[Uh, yeah. In hindsight that had been pretty stupid, running it alone. Magneto, even on easy, had swept the floor with his face. He opens his mouth but no words come out, lifts his hands and shrugs at her. He can be impulsive and stupid sometimes, what can he say?]

It was on easy.

[Apparently that's what he says.]

Apparently not easy enough.

[The words are said in an incredibly dry tone and she's still arching an eyebrow at him. She's well aware of his impulsiveness; she just wishes he would be a bit smarter about all this sometimes, especially when it's emotionally fueled.]

[Look, Julian has a lot of strong emotions, okay? He acts on them. He can't help it. He's a go-getter. So he got Magneto beating him up. It happens. And he's still walking. All he got was a full-body bruise and a busted head from a Magneto sim. He'd say that's pretty damn impressive actually. Yeah, it's stupid and impressive.]

Apparently not hard enough either. I'm still standing, aren't I?

[Impressive or not, that still doesn't take away from the stupidity factor. Because even if she's not showing it, he concerns her when he gets this overrun by his emotions.]

That's not the point, darling.

Then what is the point? [He says this cockily, and immediately realizes his mistake in asking the question. He continues after a half-beat, before she can open her mouth to retort.] No, wait, I know. It was stupid. See, Miss Frost? I listen. I'm a learner. [He smirks a little, taps one of his temples... just not the injured one. Of course he actually doesn't listen most of the time and it takes him years to learn some things, but that's all just technicalities, right?]
