[Event 01] Shooting Practice

Sep 26, 2008 12:05

Richard twisted his mouth. Terrorism was a harder world to dabble in than he thought. He was not a freedom fighter. He enjoyed the systematic use of terror as a means of coercion. He created fear. Iscariot intended to cause death and serious harm to civilians and non-combatants with the purpose of compelling the Victorian Company to refrain from ( Read more... )

*The sound of shots being fired drew Johannes over and he stared suprised to see Cecile speaking to Applegate. He strolled over and waved.*

Ah good morning, Miss Cecile, and good morning to you too Mr. Applegate. Early morning practice?

*He eyed the gun wondering just what a treasure huntere would need to have a gun for.*

That's what it is. *Richard reloaded his gun.* There's not much to do in this town. *He shot another can.*

You don't know much about guns, do you? *And Richard cleaned his. Then he raised it and looked down the barrel. He felt pleased; it still worked after all these years.* Metal doesn't explode.

Johannes blushed some and cleared his throat glancing at Cecile as he spoke.*

Well no to be honest. My father wasn't a hunter and I really wasn't one to fire one. So no, I'm afraid I do not know much about guns at all.

*Somebody weak? Richard liked that. It made this toy easier to play with.*

Good. Guns aren't meant for everyone.

Nor are books, yet funny enough you read. Imagine that.

'What is this man up to. I shouldn't pry but if the children are in danger then I must.' Johannes thought to himself.

All I have to do is point my gun and pull the trigger. You'll die.

*Richard had taken out his gun and was inspecting it. Not for safety, but with a loving touch and rapt attention that could show Johannes an excuse for his fears.*

*Johannes frowned some at seeing him give such attention to a weapon.*

Mr. Applegate, I assure you that I know that fact about guns. I am not a boy, that you can easily intimidate. Rather I must ask why you are trying to scare me in the first place. I have nothing that you could possibly want or need.

Oh, I was making you aware. *He whipped out a second gun and aimed it at Johannes.* You can't kill someone with an encyclopedia.

*Point made, Richard lowered his weapon.*

*Johannes looked slightly alarmed at havint the gun pointed at him in such a manner, and tried to calm his rappidly beating heart. He was not happy at all with the way Richard was acting, but he also knew that it would be foolish to pick a fight with a man who was as strange as Applegate in the first place. Instead he decided to play it off as a sort of amusing idea. *

Point taken Mr. Applegate, though I must confess, while I've never heard of anyone being killed by an encyclopidia, there are some that, well if dropped from a proper height on one's head, then the resulting scene would be rather messy. To borrow what my professor once told me, one should never put one's fingers where one does not wish them to be broken, the same can be said that a man should not stand under falling encylopedia's lest he wishes his head to become broken.

*Richard is just going to look at Johannes like he's crazy, and coming from him that surely means the teacher went off the deep end. He was surprised that this man could waffle on about the strangest things and draw the conversation into tangents that in the end meant nothing at all. It was amusing. He said the first thing that came to mind, not caring about the insulting tone - if Johannes heard it in his words, that is.*

Ha! Are you always this verbose?

*Johannes snorted some, sounding like an idiot kept him alive, that much had been good. Clearly his english wasn't as good as his native tongue. If it had been then maybe his meaning could have been better understood.*

It depends upon the subject.

Right.

*Richard feels bored. He withdraws his gun and returns to shooting cans. He's done talking to this boring-ass schoolteacher. He wondered when the fun would start. Not till the Company came to town, he'd bet.*

Just be careful where you point that thing Mr. Applegate. You could wind up facing down a barrel one day. Good day to you.

*Johannes turns and heads towards the school.*
