[Event 01] Shooting Practice

Richard twisted his mouth. Terrorism was a harder world to dabble in than he thought. He was not a freedom fighter. He enjoyed the systematic use of terror as a means of coercion. He created fear. Iscariot intended to cause death and serious harm to civilians and non-combatants with the purpose of compelling the Victorian Company to refrain from ( Read more... )

*Father Chaser wandered through the town looking about and greeting those he knew. He was a very popular man, well trusted and loved. Especially by children, they'd come running to the church with pictures they had drawn or nests they had found. He smiled, life was easy here. He tilted his head, he could see Richard shooting cans, he was a difficult man, but as a priest he had to look after all men equally.*

Hello there Richard, how is your practice going?

*Richard's shot hit the last can. He remembered that man's voice from the time he'd visited the church; it had been the day before the storm, and he'd ventured in to look at the stained glass. He opened his gun and cleaned it before adding bullets to the chamber. He closed it. It clicked.*

*He then put it in his holster and turned. He was dusting off his hands as he spoke.*

I still hit from fifty paces. Heh, I should be glad. How are you today, father?

Worried about the storm hitting my poor flock, but no one seems seriously harmed. I wanted to see you, I think I've found a book you may like.

Father Chaser was trying to do his best for this man, he remembered when he had come to see the stained glass, their conversation had been less than fluent. But then again quiet men were often virtuous.*

The storm did nothing to you I hope?

*Richard was a quiet and private man. He was frowning as he went to collect the blasted tin cans. He didn't apperciate people sticking their noses in his business: the sheriff, that man, and this man too. As long as he didn't ask too many questions, they'd get along fine. He just had to do his job as a priest.*

No. More's the pity. What book do you have for me?

It's about bullet preparation. More a manual, or a pamphlet than anything.

*He knew that Richard was a private man, but he felt he needed to talk more to him. Some men needed help, needed saving. He doubted he'd manage to get a confession from this man though, that would take a lot more time.*

*Richard studied the priest. He showed no signs of duplicity; his eyes were steady, not moving to the right, and his throat hadn't gulped once. And as a priest was sworn to maintain the confidentiality of his parishoners, he felt calm. He stared a good long while before taking the pamphlet.*

I'll be sure to make use of it. Thank you, father. Do you need help with the church? I pray the windows aren't cracked.

The windows are fine, the Lord protected his house. But I could use some help fixing a few of the gravestones that have fallen.

*A chance to talk to this man more privately may be what God had sent him. He wished he could help this man, God's work had to be spread amongst the people.

Yes. Yes. It seems like good work.

*He smiles: it'll be fun to look at the names of the dead. Over a dozen of them, etched into stone. Even he'd end up like that, but not till he'd seen this through to the end. So many lives gone because they lost in the game they played, and more to lose. Yup. Good fun work.*

Do you need me now?

I'd appreciate some help now if that is alright?

*He turned to walk to the church, having some help would make the job at hand go far quicker, and he could try to probe the depths of Richard's beliefs. It was a good oppertunity.*

*Richard left the cans and impact-bullets and followed Father James to the church. He could use this time to avoid that abysmal woman and perhaps do some good; not for the town but himself. He looked at the convenience stores, the wooden frames and timber doors, and wondered what would happen.*
