*Richard had a respect for the church born by his parents, but he had no desire to follow it. There were some things that fascinated him about church: the rituals. The mystique was fascinating, and had been since he was a child. Now he was alone and that meant he had no James Chaser telling him to mind his manners in that frustratingly calm piss-me-off voice of his. Never had he been the sort to ignore his impulses.*
