I bring you another of the recent, not yet translated non.no.

And I've just realized that during my semi-hiatus, I've missed not 2, but as many as 3 of these non.no issues, which means one more to be posted, soon (hopefully).

Ohno Satoshi X Aiba Masaki

Vol.45 - 「Radio’s Arashi」
A super rare talk in the radio booth. This special broadcast is about to go on air!

The theme proposed by Sakurai kun is 「Radio」. 「I want to know if there’s anything special about your recording styles, as well as all the different habits you may have when it comes to this job!」, he said. And so we have here Ohno kun X Aiba kun on standby in a radio booth. With headphones and mikes at the ready, they are going to grant us a special show ♪. Now, let us enjoy this one night only magazine broadcast. 5 seconds to go, 4, 3, 2, 1, start!

(T/N: the (※) notes are originally from the magazine)

The real connection we can make with our listeners always brings us the most joy

Aiba: Konaiba (※1), this is『Radio’s Arashi』(laugh). This is rather sudden, but Riidaa, it seems you have a postcard addressed to our program?
※1 「Konaiba」
This is the greeting phrase Aiba kun made up for his radio show 「Arashi・Aiba Masaki’s Recomen! Arashi Remix」
(T/N: this phrase is a mash-up of “Konbanwa” (good evening) and “Aiba”)
Ohno: Why, that’s true. Shall we introduce it?
Aiba: Let’s see. 「Please tell me the dress code and other essentials of a radio recording」, sent by Sakurai Shou san from Tokyo (laugh).
Ohno: Well, in my case, I always wear my everyday clothes.
Aiba: Oh, me too. My face is not gonna be shown anyway, so I just start recording right away in whatever clothes I wear coming to the job.
Ohno: What we need to prepare are drinks and snacks, right?
Aiba: Yeah, but I only need drinks. What kind of snacks would you bring along?
Ohno: Karaage from the convenient store, for example (laugh). Because, you know, I do quite a bit of recording outside of the studio so both the weather and the working atmosphere feel really comfortable and easy-going. Say, Aiba chan, I’ve guested on your radio show lots of times already, right?
(T/N: karaage means deep-fried foods. Chicken is the most popular ingredient, other kinds of meat are also used)
Aiba: Among us Arashi, I think I’ve worked with Riidaa on radio the most times. By the way, since the last time you came, the studio has changed, now I get to do the recording at a stylish place, with much nicer scenery.
Ohno: Heh~, surprisingly, there seems to be rather a lot of things we don’t know about each other’s work. …… Well now, let me introduce the mails we receive for tonight. 「Is there any peculiar habit you have when it comes to radio recording?」, this is a question from Sakurai Shou san in Tokyo (laugh).
Aiba: Eh? Isn’t that the same person as before? One thing that I’m aware of is that I tend to read out the postcards and mails from the listeners in a louder voice than usual. That, and I often play games with the listeners, such as a psychological test which everyone can take part in.
Ohno: I give them quizzes all the time too. Since mine is a morning broadcast, I want to get everyone excited and raise their spirit to help them get ready for the day ahead.
Aiba: (imitates Ohno kun’s voice) 「Here comes a question ♪」, like that, right? I’ve lost count of the times I’ve heard that when I’m driving in the morning.
Ohno: Really? I myself haven’t got that many chances to listen to that (laugh). Ah, but quite often, some truck drivers would shout out to me 「I always listen to your show」.
Aiba: Aren’t you the most happy when you get that? It’s moments like those that make us feel that we are making very real connection with our listeners. Riidaa, I hope you have the chance to do some interviews with people on the streets some time♪
Ohno: I’d love that too. Actually, I think this time, we’ve talked enough of out-of-studio recording for people to start considering turning that into reality for me, maybe? Aiba chan, I guess you are most suitable for challenging projects. As for Shou kun, well, he looks like he’s made for the news broadcasts.
Aiba: And I decide that MatsuJun should do some radio drama, that would be cool! Even though people won’t be seeing his face at all (laugh).
Ohno: Nino could…… he could do a magic show!
Aiba: His show will be one without any words, then! Well, that’s something I can also do (laugh).
Ohno: Oh well, after all, the charm of radio lies in the fact that listeners can let their imagination go wild (grin).
Aiba: You’re right. As for us, we are free to express ourselves, and that is very enjoyable. …… Oh, it’s almost time we said goodbye.
Ohno: You’ve just listened to 『Radio’s Arashi』! (※2),
※2 「You’ve just listened to 『Radio’s Arashi』!」 (Ijou,『Radio no Arashi』deshita!)
This is the usual ending phrase of Ohno kun’s radio show 『ARASHI DISCOVERY』.

Aiba: Radio is fun because we are free to express ourselves
Ohno: It’s great that we can let our listeners let their imagination fly
