Itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water spout.

So this morning I’m taking a shower and I’m shampooing my hair and listening intently to the random DJ chatter on the radio oblivious to everything else around me. My eyes are closed to keep the suds from getting in my eyes dontchaknow and when I’m done washing all of the shampoo out of my hair I open my eyes and see hovering in front of my face a GIANT SPIDER! All right, maybe giant is extreme, but it was large and it was in front of my face.

I screamed a couple times and then, seeing that I had no other option, I jumped out of the shower and dripped water all over the floor. I grabbed the shower head and sprayed it at the spider who was still dangling there. He quickly tried to make his way back up his web, so I ended up giving the ceiling a good wash down until I finally knocked him off and flushed him down the drain. I continued my shower after that keeping one eye open in case any of his friends or family was hiding in a corner waiting to avenge his death.

I swear it was something straight out of a horror movie - a spider horror movie where in which the spider slowly descends on the unsuspecting girl in the shower who opens her eyes and then ATTACK! I’m lucky to still be alive.

Continuing on with my Flight of the Conchords obsession, my brain let me have a dream about them. I dreamed I went to another one of the their shows at some venue I’ve never seen before and my seat was in a balcony looking right over the stage. At one point Jemaine climbed up into the balcony and, wouldn’t you just know that the seat next me was empty, so guess where he sat. He talked to me for a bit while he and I were displayed prominently on the big screens and then he tried to teach me and all of the people around us the words to some song.

After the show I’m walking back to my car and the parking lot is pretty much empty, but I hear screaming behind me. I look back at the building and there’s Jemaine and Bret walking with a crowd of fans around them. And they’re wearing kilts. Oh yes, they were.

I’m leaving tomorrow after work for a very long road trip to Iowa/South Dakota. My grandfather’s inurnment is on Monday, so that’s why we’re going. We could have flown, but it was crazy expensive. So instead we decided to take the entire week of Memorial Day off of work and drive it. I did some fancy calculating last night and this whole trip is going to mean being in the car for 30 to 35 hours. Oy. I’ve stocked up on books and my iPod is loaded with music and I’m bringing the laptop so we can watch some movies, but holy cow that’s a lot of driving. I’m either going to learn to really appreciate my car or I’m going to despise being in it.

We’re driving up to Wichita tomorrow night and then driving the rest of the way Saturday. We’ll be in Iowa until Monday and then we’ll go to South Dakota to stay with my aunt and uncle. We’ll leave on Wednesday and start making our way back with a couple stops along the way since we don’t have to hurry back for anything.

Not the most exciting trip, but this is pretty much our summer vacation this year. Hopefully, it’ll be nice and I’ll see lots of family I haven’t seen in years. And I’ve never made a road trip north like this before. Could be interesting. Could be entirely dull. Guess I’ll find out starting tomorrow.
