"Guns for show, knives for a pro"

I saw Iron Man 2 last night, and I liked it better than the first one.

OMFGGG I WOULD LIKE ONE HOWARD AND TONY STARK SANDWICH, PLEASE. OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD.

Sam Rockwell reminds me of Tom Cruise's character in Tropic Thunder. I can't decide if this is good or bad. Either way, I thought his character was very amusing. I have a thing for egotistical, two-timing bastards with three-piece suits and glasses--in movies, of course.

I have such a renewed respect for Samuel L. Jackson after that Tarantino binge. Every time his character said something, I was like, "Haha, he's so cool!"

My favorite part was drunk!Iron Man. I loved the entire wrestling match with Don Cheadle's character set to a remix of Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust." FUCK YEAH, INDEED.

And, no, I can't see Don Cheadle without thinking, "Don Cheadle on a bed of rice!"

The scene at the racetrack was pretty bad ass, too. Whiplash looked awesome. I wish they would have explored his storyline a bit more. I hate tattoos, but seeing his made me want to watch Eastern Promises again.

The final explosion was a bit anticlimactic, but I can't complain too much.

My least favorite part was the Bill O'Reilly cameo. Way to kill the mood, movie. I stopped fantasizing about Tony Stark for a second and then I remembered that RDJ is a Republican and that Tony Stark must be one of the most politically conservative superheroes of all time.*

I won't discuss politics any further, but, seriously, that mock Factor clip was unnecessary.

I don't understand why people hate Pepper. Jealousy, sure, but not hate.

Also, Scarlett Johansson's hair was awesome.

My brother and I stayed until after the end credits, but neither of us have ever read comic books, so the significance was lost on us. If anyone wants to explain it to me, it would be greatly appreciated. I don't care enough to take the initiative to Google it.

* In Kanye years.

I watched Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels a few days ago. I liked it a lot, but I kept trying to relate the characters to those in Trainspotting. (Head's up: it doesn't work.) Halfway through the movie I knew I'd have to re-watch it some day. So many of the characters looked alike that I kept mixing up who belonged to which group.

It was a little weird watching that movie from the perspective of an American, if only because I had to get used to the fact that I was watching a crime thriller with a limited number of firearms. Personally, I'm not a big fan of guns, but as a movie enthusiast it was difficult to perceive them as a finite resource.

I'm getting better at deciphering Cockney Rhyming Slang. The hardest part is just recognizing when someone is using it, because I have to stop and think, "Wait, 'sky rocket'? Is that what he said? Does that even fit the context? Oh--pocket! Goddamnit."

"'Chevy Chase'? What does he have to do--face! Sonofabitch."
