"It's your professionalism that I respect!"

I watched Little Shop of Horrors last night. It was very strange and reminded me of something out of a Goosebumps book.

I actually kind of liked the first half of the music numbers, but I genuinely enjoy doo-wop so it's probably not for everyone. I was surprised at how often the plant swore, though. For some reason that was a big disappointment for me. After Audrey II started talking, the quality of the songs dropped dramatically. And, you know, I figured Audrey was kind of going to be like Rocky Horror Picture Show's Columbia, in that they both had deliberately obnoxious speaking voices but their singing voices still suited them, but then Audrey sang and it was just awful. Everyone else who sang whose name wasn't "Audrey" did fine, though.

Oh, what else? One of these days I'm going to recognize Christopher Guest on my own, instead of going, "Do I know that guy...?" and running to IMDb. Also: lol, John Candy!

I never would have pegged Steve Martin as the guy to play an abusive boyfriend/greaser/sadistic dentist, but his appearance was probably the best part in the entire movie. I can't watch this clip without smiling. :D

Might I go out on a limb and suggest that Bill Murray's cameo in this movie was the funniest thing he's ever done ever? He plays the masochistic patient. (By the way, those instruments look like they were designed by the Mantle twins, no?)

Apparently Jack Nicholson played the part of the patient in an earlier movie version as well. *shivers* He freaks me out.
