Note to Sabella:
Your boyfriend is a little on the insolent side, darling. Perhaps we should all take a vacation together.
There are two places to find Padraig during the day, three if you count Sabella's room. The weight room is one of them, and Padraig is here, just working off his anger at LuXu, and completing his final stretches and cardiac work for the day. There's a faint sheen over his face and body, visible as he's wearing three quarter length trousers and a vest, the back of the vest soaked with some of his sweat. He's currently stretching down his legs after a long run, and is in a fairly uncompromising position, legs spread into a tendon-relaxing half-crouch.
A lot of people prefer to use the weight room during the day, Toxin is among them. Dressed in the one-piece suit of the kind that gymnasts use, she pauses in the doorway to the weight room, taking in the mostly empty room, with one exception. Padraig. Oooh. The toxic woman narrows her eyes for a brief moment, then shrugs to herself and heads farther inside, dropping her bag carelessly next to the mat. "You've been working hard." she observes, giving Padraig a good once over.
Padraig's head snaps up at the sound of a voice, instantly preparing to defend himself. Thing have been a bit nervous recently, okay? When he sees who it is, he professionally pulls himself up and out of the stretch, and looks to her with those pretty electric blue eyes. "Toxin." There's a slight nod, and a tone of respect. "I'm always working hard, improving myself. What can I do for you?"
He does have lovely eyes. Perhaps someday Toxin will look into them without wondering what Padraig's really up to. For the time being, however, we'll deal with the paranoia. "Nothing. I was merely here to work out, and I saw you. Politeness dictates that I at least say hello." Her tone is nothing if not polite. Dropping onto the mat, she stretches her legs out in front of her and bends over to grasp her toes. "From the way you look, I'm going to guess you were doing more aerobics than weight lifting. What else do you do?"
A fairly rueful smile comes to Padraig's face, and it does tint his eyes with a little bit of shame. "Politeness? I was expecting at least another verbal thrashing, to be honest. I assume you've heard about my recent indiscretions?" However, it's time for him to stretch a little more himself. "Weights and powers are my morning job. Then I go out to the cliffs to work on throwing bolts, then cardiac and stretching later on. Occasionally I go running around the island, or have a stressful day and end up doing too much." He's nothing if not dedicated, and he shows as much by slowly dropping into another stretch, this one designed to deal with his lower back muscles.
Toxin allows a small smirk to cross her face. "Oh, I've heard about them. Who do you think Amara came to when you put her off? And at the time, my dear, you are damn lucky I was in Russia and not New York." The smile she gives him could be best described as chilling. "Otherwise...you'd have bigger problems than worrying about whether Amara was going to bust a cap in your ass one day." That said and done, she switches positions, dropping into the splits, one leg on each side, and stretching her body out flat. Flexible type.
The rueful smile returns, and Padraig allows some of his pain at thinking of it again to enter his voice. "I screwed up, and badly. I didn't mean to hurt Amara or anything. But yeah, I'm fully aware of how pissed a lot of people were... /Are/ at me." The stretch is completed, and the Irishman swicthes his body to a resting position. "I can only apologise. Anything else would be pathetic." He looks to the second in command, rueful turning to apologetic. "Sorry if I don't sound too respectful, I'm still a bit screwed up over it myself."
"Saying you screwed up is putting it mildly, Padraig. You used horrible judgement, not to mention screwed with two of the women most likely to kill you on this island. Excluding myself." Toxin responds, still in her calm, polite manner. Pushing herself upwards with the palms of her hands, she gives him a long look. "Under the circumstances, I'll excuse you this time. And the best advice I can offer you right now is to let Amara alone. Very alone."
"All too true." Padraig replies with a shake of his head, a little flash of annoyance at himself snapping into his mind. "I ran into her once since she got back from Russia, by accident." Though details are not to be given freely. He receives the look, not returning it as he does with most people, but dropping his eyes to get back to his stretches. "I'll be making every effort to keep out of her way, but thank you." For letting him off this time, and it's heartfelt. He searches for a way to change the subject as he drops into another stretch, and fails to find one in his mind.
Toxin is rather inclined to continue the conversation, just for the moment. "However, if you ever pull a stunt like that again, I will not talk your victim into sparing your life, or any of your bodily appendages." Spoken firmly enough, it carries the insinuation just -what- appendages Padraig might lose if he does this again. "Now. I heard you and Lu Xu Liang had something of an altercation the other day." Switching positions, she climbs gracefully to her feet, bending over backwards to touch the floor.
Something that very closely resembles a little grimace touches Padraig's face. "I probably deserve it already, to be honest. And believe me, it'll never happen again, I've annoyed too many people and screwed myself up enough to last a lifetime." His final stretch completed, Padraig stands and begins to walk towards one of the exercise bikes. The change of conversation is fully welcome, but his tone hardens just a little. "Not just the other day. Today he messed about with Lilli."
The look on Toxin's face says that she agrees with what Padraig is saying. "If you do that too much on this island, you will find that you're not long for this planet." is her last words on that conversation. At his next statement, though, Toxin straightens up and follows Padraig to one of the excercise bikes. Placing a gloved hand on the bike handles to get her attention, she says, "What happened today? Tell me as exactly as you can."
The appearance of a hand as he was just winding up on the bike prompts Padraig to look up to the face in front. "Well, it's quite hard to explain. And I'm not sure if I should..." He trails off for the briefest of moments, expecting a hard look. "But I guess you're second in command, so you should know. I'd just feel like a bit of a kid. You want the full story?" It's an offer that comes complete with offer of a full diatribe, if she wishes.
"I wouldn't have asked if I didn't want the full story, Padraig. If Lu is bothering other juniors, it's something I need to know about." Toxin's methods of dealing with this sort of thing are probably a little less stringent than Magneto's. "And you're not a kid. I asked you for a report, so report." A narrowing of her gold-green eyes should be all the incentive Padraig needs to get a move on.
Padraig received Magneto's glare not too long ago, and he's almost willing to embellish as a petty revenge against the man who so annoyed him a couple of days ago. However, he doesn't, and simply tries to explain, his tone frank and open. "On my way here, I spotted Lu, and he and Lilli bumped into each other accidentally. She retorted, 'cause she'd dropped her book and damaged it, I think. He did his usual get angry and abuse her, and then pulled some trick with his gravity to crush her fingers under the book." He takes a deep breath, trying to sort the facts in his mind. "At this point I tried to tell him to stop, talking 'bout Sabella and the chat she'd had with us, and he claimed it was a misunderstanding. Chrome and Raidha turned up, Lu continued to abuse Lilli a bit after she retorted again. I may have er..." Ahem. "threatened him at that point. Bit of a go at Chrome from Lu after Chrome was fairly uncomplimentary. Then it all kinda calmed down, Chrome took Lilli off and Lu took Raidha off, after he'd done a bit of a nutty shouting in a language I don't know. Then I came in here." A deep inhalation and exhalation signals the end of the story. "Any points need clearing up?"
Toxin says nothing for a very long time, simply shaking her head. When she finally does speak, it's an elaborate curse in Russian that no well-brought up lady should really know. "You did well in telling me. Chrome shouldn't handle this, as he's a little too hot under the collar for such things. And he's Lillianne's brother to boot. I'll take care of it." she says, patting his hand with her gloved one. Does this mean she's forgiven him for what he did with Amara and Sabella? Hell no. It just means it's forgotten for the moment.
The patting doesn't go unheeded, but Padraig is far too paranoid at the moment to believe for a moment he's forgiven. "Chrome? Always thought he was pretty chilled." And brother? Ah, well, Padraig knew there was some connection there. "But, I think Sabella wanted to do some talking with Lu anyways, about his, er, attitude to others." Not to mention the abuse she gave the Irishman. He starts to wind up on the cycle again, though he's taking it slow enough to talk at the same time. "Sure there's nothing else needs clarifying?"
"Unfortunately for Sabella, that's not her job, that's mine. Even though the boy is her student." Toxin says serenely, far too serene for someone who just heard what she did. And that could be bad. "That's all for now, Padraig. But you are under standing orders to report any more of this behavior to myself or Magneto. Is that clear?"
"Do you mean any more of Lu getting angry, or just anyone getting aggro?" Padraig asks, quite honestly, though he's breathing slightly harder than he would be normally. It's been a long and tiring day. "I don't want a reputation as some sort of snitch. I've got enough problems as it is." Perhaps not the best of comments to make, but Padraig is getting weary of all this aggro. Why can't people just get along a bit?
Toxin turns a cold look on Padraig. "You of all people have been lectured on what is appropriate. And frankly, after what you have done, you should be less worried about your reputation and more worried about what you know is the right thing to do." Interesting talk, coming from the second in command of the Brotherhood. "You're not a snitch. A snitch is someone who does this without asking. You are under standing orders."
"So I am to spy on my fellow members instead?" Padraig's return is not completely happy with what he's being asked to do. "With all due respect to your rank, Toxin, I'll do it, but you should know I don't like it. Sabella tells me I'm insolent and defiant, and it's true, but I will follow my orders." His face has gone level as he allows his feet to carry on round on the bike, not putting any more effort into it.
Toxin growls softly. "I am not asking you to spy, Padraig. But I DO what you to report brotherhood members wantonly injuring others!" Now she's angry, and her eyes have gone more gold than green, the pupils narrowed into slits. "I would expect any other brotherhood person to do the same. If you had snapped Lilli's wrist and Raidha had seen it, she would be expected to report the damn thing. Because what you did was -not- in keeping with what we do." Shaking her head, she turns to leave. "If you'll excuse me, I have someone to find and speak to."
Padraig almost retorts again, but keeps himself. "I will do so for injuries and any fighting. I misunderstood what you meant. I was under the impression you wanted me to come crawling every time a harsh word was spoken, or every time there was a chance of a harsh word." He begins to wind up on the cycle again. "Apologies; I will do as you ask." There's really no need for Toxin to ask to be excused, but he offers a brief nod to her. "I'll see you later."
