This entry ICly open to all friends only, minus Sophie.
Something's going to happen soon. Maybe I should ask Gustav if he's had any particularly headaches lately...
Sophie was brutally and mercilessly attacked by Toad, a member of the Brotherhood. Now, while she's doing well in her recovery, she is already beginning to plan revenge against Toad. Even though Toad's attack was revenge for some way she wronged him before...which really confuses me. It's obvious Toad would expect someone at Xavier's to desire for revenge against him, so all my common sense tells me that getting more revenge against him is a big, bad, disaster waiting to happen.
That being said, if Noren and Sophie are able to get permission from the Professor to take action, I offered to help however I can. Sophie's a close friend of mine, and so is Noren. I can't just turn my backs on both or either of them. Besides, the way Noren is at fighting--the battle rage, raw power turned into focus, etc--maybe it won't be so bad. Sophie said I could be her sparring partner, so maybe that will help me get a basis for martial arts and help her prepare for such an encounter.
The thing that worries me the most, though, is that Sophie specifically said that she's willing to do anything to get back at Toad, hopefully even kill him, even if it means her expulsion from Xavier's. First off, if she goes that far, she could greatly be putting her life in danger just to get revenge. Secondly, risking expulsion when there are Brotherhood members trying to kill her is definitely not in her best interest. I hate to say it, but someone might have to convince her not to get into this fight. If she has support, it's one thing--but going that far will definitely result in some kind of disaster.
I just hate the feeling that something is going to happen to Sophie. Something very bad. If she doesn't get help, that is.
Must be how Gustav feels when he gets a headache...
<> Living Room - Lv1
This, my friends, is a place for people to come and relax. Broad wide screen television in one area of the room with various other sofas and chairs around. Vivid walls of pale green and embossed gold wallpaper add a friendly air to this place. Tables, whether coffee or card, line the room, as well as an air-hockey table and fooze ball table for games. Closets support various items for fun, large bay windows give light to the room. Large hearth opens up onto a gorgeous brick fireplace with wide spread marble mantle.

[Players : Norenvalei, and Staren ]
Norenvalei shifts and yawns lazily, "Oh, that. I've been keeping my talent in check for several days without resting from it. In spite of dreaming, last night, I didn't actually go much to sleep, even if the reigns did slip a little. It's...very mentally fatiguing."
Staren ohs. "You need to let it loose for awhile, then. Not here and now, of course, but... you'll spend all your time half-asleep if you kleep this up."
Staren yawns... "Your sleepiness is infectious... or my medicine's wearing off. That makes me sleepy..."
Quark appears in a small *poof* of light and smoke, but he coughs slightly as he has yet to completely lose his head cold from the last few days. Yawning slightly, he smiles as he spots some of his friends and waves as he walks over the few remaining feet. He sits down into a comfortable reclining chair with a small sigh, but doesn't say anything else: he doesn't like to interrupt conversations unless it's important. And in his mind, letting his friends know that he's arrived and is willing to talk is useful, although otherwise irrelevant and obvious.
Norenvalei giggles and shifts again. She's laying stretched out on the couch, using the female Staren's lap for a pillow. "I dunno. Can't let it loose or someone else might get killed. Gonna have to wait until the...the...the..." She zones out for a moment, "Can't let it loose or someone else might get killed. Gonna have to wa..." She zones out again, "Nee' the lake to thaw out, then I'll go sleep at the bottom of it for few days until I'm more rested." She then pauses again, "Oh, and las' nigh', we were talkin' abou' how cute Chris is." She fails to notice Quark poofing in, which is actually great because she'd be blushing from head to toe if she knew he was there.
Staren mms sleepily. "I see... the lake. Hmm, like some kinda lady of the lake... Oh. Hm. Well... mzlml.... mmbl... zzz..." She's fallen asleep.
Quark glances away from the television and arches an eyebrow at Noren and who is most likely another form of Staren. An asleep form, nonetheless. Flashing a grin at Noren, he jokes quietly, "Well, your conversation wasn't -that- boring, was it?" And no, apparently he didn't catch that comment Noren made about himself, otherwise he'd be blushing as well. Although he would most likely not feel as embarassed as Noren would..."So, how have you been? And what have you been up to, besides clearing out the school library?" Another grin in her direction, but he's also greatly impressed. He can't think of any other student--besides, possibly, himself--who could ever spend that much time in the library doing nothing but reading.
Sophie has arrived.
Norenvalei hmms, and looks up, then sits up, "Oh, hi Chris" She blushes in spite of herself "Umm...well, Aside from a few classes, the sessions with Ms. Monroe, playing chess with the Professor, and the reading. I'm to the 'J's, by the way. Not much for me. What about you? I haven't seen you around in a while."
Quark arches an eyebrow again, slightly confused. Idly glancing around the room to discover what might be causing her to blush, he mentally shrugs and replies with a smile, "I wouldn't expect any less from you. I don't think I, or any other student for that matter, have read as many books from that library as you. Coincidentally, I might have a head start on the J's over you. I've just now finished -all- the books in the library about Japanese culture, history, and language. And there are quite a few books there on Japan," he grins. Shrugging, he replies, "Well, I've mostly been in my room listening to music and reading. Doing school work and the like. My roommate, Wes, just got back a week ago, so it's been quiet with him gone. I got out occasionally, but otherwise I just killed time waiting for classes to start again."
Norenvalei nods, "How has your mom been doing?"
Sophie wheels herself into the living room silently, looking around to see who's sharing the room with her.
Quark's smile fades slightly at that, but he shrugs and responds, "Well, not too bad, but not too great, either. Thanks to Jean--who, apparently, has special privileges over at Lennox--we were able to get her out of Dr. Adam Bradford's control and medical service. If you know -anything- about him, that's a blessing," he grins. Shrugging, he adds, "I got to visit her for the first time in a long time on Christmas morning, and we had a nice, long chat about life in general. I've visited her often since then, but lately she seems to be getting worse." He bites his lip and looks down, pausing for an awkward moment. "I haven't been able to see her lately, because the doctors say there are times she's not physically capable of seeing visitors." Shrugging and pausing again, he continues quietly, "I'm hoping to have a talk with Jean soon, about some different possibilities. Seems she knows some other people who would be willing to bring in mutant healing factors into this. Jean might want to let some friends, possibly even Xavier students, in on the action of trying to heal her with X-factor powers. We'll need hospital permission, of course, but hopefully they'll be easier to convince than Bradford."
Norenvalei nods. "If there's anything that I can do..."
Sophie turns away from the window and goes over to where Noren and Quark are talking. She waves a hello.
Quark smiles sincerely at Noren and waves back to the approaching Sophie as well. "I don't know what all will have to be done, but I appreciate the offer. Really." He sighs again; it doesn't really seem like there's much -anyone- can do, but he's not yet to the point of defeat.
Sophie uses left handed gestures only to communicate. "What's going on?"
Norenvalei waves over to Sophie, signing her into the conversation and asking her how she's been.
Quark smiles slightly and manages to understand most of it. He slowly signs back to Sophie, "I am talking about my mother." Although it might more come out as "I talk mother", which may or may not make sense to her. ^_^ Then he adds on, this time slightly better, "How are you?"
Sophie smiles to Quark. She gets it. "I read your journal. Glad to hear you're making progress." Her body language for that last part seems to suggest there's emphasis on 'you're', as opposed perhaps to her own state.
Quark might not be able to catch the ASL sign emphasis, but he can get a clue from Sophie's body language that not all is well. Besides, he realizes that she never really answered his question, and that's a good sign she's hiding something about it. He signs carefully again, "What's wrong? How are you feeling?" Hopefully she'll catch that he's trying to emphasize her own feelings, not her health.
Sophie shrugs, carefully. 'As well as can be expected, I suppose.' She seems a little blah. 'How are you? I'm surprised you've come out of your room.' A very little joke.
Quark shrugs and nods at that with a small smile. Still, he's not completely satisfied with her answer, but he doesn't know how to sign the next part. So, he grabs a scratch piece of paper from his pocket and writes down, "Are you -sure- everything's all right? You can't just come out of such an ordeal like that and just pass it by as commonplace. I just want to make sure you really are 'fine'." He shrugs to himself and adds on the paper, "As for me, I decided that I wanted to save some other book reading for later in the week. Don't have to read it all in one day like Noren," he jokes.
Sophie suddenly flashes out in what appears to be a mood swing. 'I almost died and nobody is lifting a finger to help me. Did Jean go and turn Toad's mind into goo? No. Did Logan turn him into Toad casserole? no. Nobody cares. Nobody wants me to be safe and happy.'
Quark sighs at that, shaking his head slightly. He writes down in response, "I know how you feel, really. And even if I can't understand exactly what you're feeling right now, I sincerely assure you, -I- care. -I- want you to be safe and happy, and most definitely healthy. I did offer to be your sparring partner, remember? That might help you vent some of your anger, and it would help me with forming the foundation for any martial arts I eventually take."
Norenvalei signs across while saying, "I'm personally been thinking of a way to cage this...Toad. I don't like what he did to you, but I can't track and catch him on my own. In all actuality, I plan on asking a few people that I've met to help. Consequently, you'll get to be there when I make him an icicle. Methinks I could talk Mickie into getting certain people to help, and maybe finish off the problem...Permanently."
Sophie shows some signs of interest at this. 'Will you help me take Toad down, Quark? When I get better, I mean?' She tosses a grateful smile to Noren. "I can't be happy until he's gone away. Don't you see? It's for all our sakes. I don't want revenge. It's all about protecting everybody else, like the professor wants." She is eager, her eyes lighting up.
Quark frowns at the conversation between the two. His sign language isn't that great, but if what he saw was true, Noren wants to try and kill Toad? Is that really a safe idea? He hesitantly writes down, "I just want to see you safe, Sophie. To be honest, though, the idea of trying to take down someone like Toad doesn't perk my interest like it does yours. Besides, I'm not that great at fighting...I might be able to help distract him, though. But even then, I'm sure this Toad wouldn't just prance around New York without 'friends'...But if it's what you want, I'm willing to try and help."
Norenvalei nods, "Quark, if you want this to get done, I need you to pop over to Blue's and tell him that we need a certain Toad handled. Next, you'll need to inform Mickie to tell Candy and Keneth who exactly their new assignment is. And finally, go to the flower shop in Chinatown where Lei works and inform him and Lilly of what's going on. Also, tell Lilly that I'm really sorry that I haven't been there to visit lately, but that I do plan on going soon. But...this will be after I ask the Professor if it's ok. I already think that he won't approve, but I don't think he'll stop it either. I'm not sure."
Sophie grits her teeth, trying to *make* him understand. 'Toad attacked me all by himself. First he planted a bomb in my backpack, and then he attacked me himself, and did all this without any help. He must be destroyed.' In a "tone of voice" that leaves no room for waffling back and forth.
Norenvalei giggles a little, "I, for one, don't want to end up cleaning the barnacles off the boathouse for breaking the rules. "
Sophie cocks her head at Noren. "Who are these people you mention? And I'm going to do it even it I get expelled. It's worth it."
Norenvalei says, "They are people that I have befriended since arriving in this area of the world, before I had to come here. I actually plan on starting to get more soon. I wonder what Dr. Grey would say other than that you're overreacting because you're upset. Course, I would be too." She pauses and starts counting on her fingers about how long it would take to work.
Norenvalei says, "And Sophe, Don't try to go after him on your own. You've already found out that he's quite resourceful, and currently, you're defenseless against him."
Sophie glares at Noren. "I am NOT overreacting." Merely conpletely convinced.
Quark blinks at Noren and replies, "To be honest, I don't know who half of those people are. Actually, I don't know any of them besides Blue..." And then he turns to Sophie, slightly taken back in shocked surprise. Sophie -must- have deep feelings of angst and hatred for this person, or else she wouldn't react like this. Then again, he can understand how she could hate him, considering the bomb and all. "I just want to make sure you're positive about doing this yourself. I understand it -must- be done, but that doesn't mean we can't try and have Jean and the other X-Men team take him on themselves. I know you don't get as much revenge that way, but...it really is safer for you." Glancing at his watch, he adds, "Anyway, I have to get going. Think about this, and when both of you come up with a definite plan--and permission--come to me and we'll talk about it again then." With that, he manages a smile and waves to both of them before walking towards the exit and another wave over his shoulder.
