OOC: Log

Journal entry will come soon enough. Hopefully.

The morning sun shines brightly this day, marking the time to be quite early. Amara silently slips from her room, glasses well in place to protect her eyes, and quickly makes her way to her destination. Her hair is pulled back, but she is not wearing clothes meant for training. Weaponless she approaches the door, knocking firmly once close enough. Knock, knock, Toxin.

Early is not the time to be bothering Toxin. She tends to be cranky when people wake her up. And unfortunately for Amara, Toxin is still fast asleep in her bed, all curled up with her hair loose, and clad in a pink nightgown. She shifts slightly at the sound of the knock, but doesn't wake up. Maybe whoever it is will go away.

The person on the other side of the door does not go away. Instead, after a few moments, Amara knocks again. This time a little louder. Morning is not her favorite time, yet she feels there is no better time for this. A look around is given nervously, before she finally realizes that no one is near by. "Toxin," she calls through the door, a little louder than she would ever normally speak. "Please, may I come in?"

Oh, glare. Glare glare at the door which speaks. Finally lifting her head, Toxin recognizes, though rather fuzzily, Amara's voice. "Let yourself in, dear." she calls out, sliding out of bed and reaching for her robe. Though the door is locked, it's only the deadbolt and Amara should be more than capable of unlocking that lock on her own.

Slowly the doorknob turns, but the door does not push open. Amara, while trusting of the invite, is not foolish enough to believe that Toxin sleeps with the door unlocked. Several tools are removed from her jacket, and the door swings open mere moments later. The girl enters, but quickly closes the obstacle and deadbolts it once more. That done, she turns to look to Toxin, removing her glasses as there is no need for them indoors. She's silent, waiting for permission to speak, or to find the words.

Meanwhile, Toxin is more than happy to wait on Amara, having grabbed her robe, a cream color, and wrapped it around herself. She doesn't turn her head as the door opens, but she does take note of how long it took Amara to open it. "This is an odd time for you to be up. What can I do for you?" Sitting down on the edge of the bed, she pats the spot next to her, a silent invitation to sit.

If she's timing Amara's skills, she'll not have much to time. The girl works just as quickly as ever, and is in no way ashamed of her abilities. "Sleep came early to me, and I woke far before I desired to," she explains, taking a few steps into the room. She hesitates, but takes seat beside her leader and friend. "I am terribly sorry to bother you at such an hour, but I am in need of council. I... " She stares at the floor, eyes watering just a bit. "I believe I may have just made a vital mistake."

Rarely is her teacher unimpressed with her student's abilities. Nodding, she makes a motion with her hand, encouraging Amara to sit and talk. At the moment, Toxin is probably not the best person to ask for advice. But she's aware that Amara might not have anyone else female to go to. "What happened? Does this have anything to do with our chat about Padraig?" That's her immediate concern.

A deep breath is taken before Amara continues. No, she has no one else to talk to. No one period now. "Yes. Everything, but nothing." Cryptic response, which prompts a pause before her eyes find those of her teacher. For once she wishes that emotion could be portrayed, but knows such will never happen. "I admit fully that I allowed myself to drown my thoughts with wine." If Toxin knows her well, which she does, she'll know that Amara never drinks. "I hear such a solution tends to impair judgment. Yet, I am not so sure if my actions were alcohol based or not. I.." Oh, how hard is this to admit. "I woke up next to Syphon."

A nod is given the first part, about the alcohol. "What I told you was a shock. Wanting to relax is perfectly understandable." she notes, allowing her student to continue. When Syphon is mentioned, Toxin's eyebrows arch upwards, then draw together. Moments of silence fall upon her expressionless face, and then suddenly, soft laughter issues. "Syphon. He is rather good-looking, isn't he?"

"That form of relaxation is not only foreign, but idiotic in nature. Dulling my senses is no way to react." Yes, Amara is scolding herself, and not others. At the laughter, though, her brow furrows and she looks away. "I did not come for mockery," she whispers. "I came because of my err." There's a brief pause, before one corner of her lips turns up. Slightly. "He is, though. He is no Padraig, but there really will never be another like him. I find that I have more in common with him than I ever have with Blitz. Another problem."

"I suggest you never make that sentiment known in front of Sabretooth or Toad. They might not react well." Toxin chides, even though she knows it wasn't meant that way. Shaking her head, she reaches out and pats Amara lightly on the shoulder, reassuring. Let's hope Amara has remembered to take her antidote like a good girl. "I don't mock, my dear. I laughed because -I- find him attractive as well. As for Padraig...at the rate he's going, he may be dead before the next year is out. But I don't think that you should judge a relationship based upon an inebriated night of pleasure."

The statement ears Toxin a bit of a smirk. "My dear, I have yet to even present myself before that pair. If that day ever happens, the first thing I would consider is their way of bonding." Drunkards. Amara has taken her antidote, as is practice every day since her extensive training began. "Attractive, with an excellent taste for weaponry." The smirk becomes more of a grin, mixed with a bit of a blush. "I am far from suggesting a relationship between he and I. For all I know, I satisfied what any man locked up for so long desires. I fear what this will do for Padraig and myself.... if there is a relationship left to be had there." She looks back to Toxin now, still with water to her eyes. "You have been there for me since the day we met. I respect your advice and admire you. I come to you asking what you would do if you were me. Or, what you would suggest, seeing as how I know little of Padraig's outings, it seems."

Toxin does laugh softly. "Bonding isn't exactly how I would describe it. But avoid them while you can." Another smile, and she nods in understanding. "When I bought Tommy those guns, it brought to mind that I had never done such for you." Stilettos and a sniper rifle, yes. Handguns, no. There's a deep sigh, and she looks downward for a time, gathering her thoughts. Looking up again, the shake of her head tosses a lock of blond hair into her face. "Were I you, I would never have started a relationship with Padraig in the first place. But I must ask you to be careful in your dealings from now on. Padraig may feel that Syphon invaded his territory. You could easily be a senior member here at some point, pet. You must remember that." The hair is tucked behind her ear as she pauses. "I have made my own mistakes lately."

"I avoid them more than I do sunlight," Amara confirms. She's not afraid of them, but isn't looking for a reason to be, either. "I would never ask you to do such a thing. The other gifts you have given me are more than I could ever ask for." Modesty. A trait that few see from Amara. Ouch. Her words sting hard, but Amara merely nods, already suspecting as much. "How I allowed myself from nearly ending him, to loving him, I still cannot understand. I have been most foolish in that department, although I have sought to keep things as drama free as possible. If only he would have done the same." Another quick sigh. "The last thing I wish is for anything to happen to Syphon due to my actions. As stated before, I know not the reasoning behind those of his own, but he deserves not the wrath of Blitz." The mention of senior membership causes a brow to raise. "Honestly, I have not thought about such a position. After all, who here would listen to me?" The brow lowers, before confusion is written clean on her face. "Would it be out of line for me to inquire as to what mistakes?"

"It takes two to tango, as they say. Syphon must be willing to face any consequences of his actions as well. It is the only adult thing to do." Unstated is what may happen if Syphon doesn't decide to do the adult thing. Probably meet his end at Toxin's hand for hurting Amara. "One mustn't regret the past, my dear. You simply have to accept it and move on. You are a quieting influence upon Padraig, I don't doubt that. And in his own way he may love you very much. But the question you must ask yourself is, is what you two have worth avoiding any other opportunities that may come up?" Now it's Toxin's turn to look a little sheepish. "You, of course, always keep such things quiet. You may or may not know that Derek and I...are having problems. Magneto and I slept together not long ago. And there was Sabella before that. Before she underwent her change."

Again Amara nods, understanding fully what Toxin is trying to say. For the most part. "I would like to think that he carries such responsibility. I suppose all I can do is what I do best: stand back and watch." There's a long pause as Amara considers her words, looking away only while doing so. "I do not regret so much as scold. Each day lived is a lesson learned. I suppose, if you mean, would I allow Padraig to pull me down instead of thriving on the island.. the answer is no. My dedication was here long before I even knew the man." At the mention of keeping things quiet, Amara gives Toxin a look. One of those 'Duh' looks. Yet it fades as her words sink in, and leaves behind a rather shocked shadow controller. Only for a moment or two. "I suppose it was only a matter of time," she comments, as if similar rumors had been spread around for months already. "Although, I could never blame you for such things. Temptation is a strong thing, especially when you are partnered with a man as jealous as Derek. A jealous man with a roving eye, that is."

Toxin isn't one to judge, at least not practically her only friend left on the island. "You should never allow someone else to drag you down." she says, more to get it out in the air than to chide Amara. The fact that Derek has a roving eye doesn't appear to either faze or surprise Toxin. "I'm well aware of the fact that he likes to look. It's been tolerated only because I'm fairly sure that's all he does is look. However, he has threatened me if my infidelity ever happens again. I don't take well to threats." A slow smile crosses her face, and she reaches up to brush a stray strand of hair back into Amara's ponytail. "In fact, dear, I should simply give him to you to do with as you would."

"Never will I allow such a relationship to interfere with my dedication to the cause. That is why I never questioned the decision to seperate Padraig and myself, only his motivations for acting in such a way to cause such punishment." There's a bit of a pause as Amara sighs, then smiles. "While being level headed is a skill I have learned well, there comes a time when anger management becomes too stressful for even me." She nearly falls over at the next part, and even has to grab the mattress of the bed to steady herself. "He did what? Is he completely unaware of what threats can earn him?" Especially threats to the second in command. To Toxin. She blinks, half looking away. "But I have no interest in him....." Her words trail off as the gears in her mind begin to turn. "Although he could have an interest in a female recently pulled from her lover."

"It is...difficult to balance these things at times." Toxin admits, watching her pupil with a practiced eye. "There are times when one must relax to relieve stress, Amara. To avoid that is to court physical and mental danger." She lashes out with one hand to grab her friend's arm to help steady her, a tiny smile brushing her face at the reaction. "Derek seems to forget that I know quite a bit about the specifications of his powers. Yes, he could choke me with a thought, but in the dark, he wouldn't know what hit him. I hate to point that out to the boy." Her head tilts, and another type of smile touches her features, this one more sinister. "Are you suggesting that he might be susceptible to seduction?"

"Relaxation." The word is whispered so softly it would take one such as Toxin to hear it. Amara places her head in her hands. "At times I wonder if I honestly understand the meaning of that word." A nod is offered as Toxin tries to keep her from falling as well. "Derek seems to forget his place. Exactly when has it become suitable for one in his position to make such threats?" The mention of dark only brings a smile to Amara's face. Yes, she has advantage on many people here, it would seem, as does Toxin. "Is he not male, deprived of what he desires, betrayed by those whom he is forced to respect?" Her words are not intended to do harm to her friend, and are said in a way that shows this. "He will be looking for someone to console, to comfort, to share his pain. Who else better than one in similar situation?"

Toxin reaches out and pets Amara, more a comforting gesture than anything. "He promised that we would speak in a week, but that is now less. If you want to do that, my dear, you are more than welcome. Would you like it if I encouraged Padraig to seek his comforts elsewhere, or at least not to expect them from you?" A rare offer, to play courier for someone else.

The gesture is comforting, but Amara pulls away to stand. "I believe that we could be the solution to the other's problem," she says softly, turning to look at the door. "I am already late to begin my training for the day, and thus should leave. If you could speak to Padraig, I would be most appreciative. And more than willing to teach your man a lesson."

Rising with Amara, Toxin nods in a solemn fashion. "Perhaps, my dear, perhaps." She escorts her student to the door. "Before you begin your training, I would like you to visit Ellen and have your wound attended to again. It wouldn't do to have it fester." The slightly harder tone to her voice implies that this is not a request. "I will have a word with Padraig. And if you wish to practice your wiles on Derek, I would be more than agreeable."

"I will do so at once," Amara agrees, although obviously not all too thrilled in doing so. Wound or no wound? Someone needs to make up her mind! "Please do. Could you tell him.. that I love him? And that it fills me with sorrow that such things should happen?" The slight glimpse of hope is gone just as soon as she speaks, and there is one last nod. "I will tend to Derek. Thank you for your time, Toxin." With that, Amara walks back out into the sunlight.
