single most wonderful thing to ever happen
i went to the fair with my family today. i passed a place with all this wizard of oz stuff. considering it was my favorite movie as a child, i had to take a look. in one corner, there was a little old man sitting at a table. it turns out he was a munchkin from the cast, one of the lollipop guild members (the one in green). i went up to him and told him about how i watched the movie every day, sometimes more than once, for about 4 years of my life. i bought a picture of him in the movie and he autographed it for me. i took his hand and told him thank you, and almost started crying. it meant so much for me to meet him, it was like the movie was coming to life in front of my eyes. i never dreamed i would ever meet a member of the cast. i'm getting the picture framed this week. His name is Jerry Maren and he is 86 years old. he's born january 24th, one day after my birthday.
