Miss Frost…Miss Frost…Wake up Miss Frost.

The words were spoken in a tone just barely above a whisper, and yet with the force to wake up even the heaviest of sleepers.

Emma had just managed to fall asleep a little less than an hour ago. It had been a rather long and trying day and she had been eagerly awaiting a good night’s rest. Normally she would have ripped into someone quite terribly for waking her up now. Even Scott would have felt her wrath at this hour. However, the voice alone violently shook her awake and nearly had her trembling. Trembling in something close to fear, not anger.

Ice blue eyes shot open, scanning the room for the speaker. She did not have to look very far, nor was she surprised by who it was. She knew who it would be even before eyes had flown open. She would never forget that soft eerie voice. Nor would she forget those haunting gray eyes. Eyes that saw so much more than they should. The only real surprise that Emma was suffering from at the moment was how this young woman was standing in front of her…she’d been dead for quite some time now after all.

Piercing gray eyes stared down at the White Queen. Long red hair flowed down past the young woman’s shoulders and almost seemed to burn around her face. Maybe the moon’s light was just playing games with Emma’s eyes though. She had not changed a bit since the last time Emma had saw her. That must have been nearly ten years ago…

For what seemed like an eternity, yet was only a few seconds, ice blue eyes met eerie gray eyes.

Marie-Ange…

Emma just barely whispered the name.

Oui. There is no time for questions. I have a simple message, but one that should not be taken lightly. A most severe betrayal awaits you. Be on guard. Watch those you hold most dear.

The cryptic words lay between the two. For once Emma Frost was lacking in words. The only thing her mind could focus on was the fact that Marie-Ange still had a tinge of that slight rolling French accent. She had worked hard to eradicate it, but some things just couldn’t be taken care of. Funny what kind of things a person thinks of when they are in shock. That was indeed what Emma was in too. A supernatural visit from a dead former student, whom she had seen sucked dry of her life force. Said former student baring news of severe betrayal from one she held most dear. Even that sort of news was enough to silence and shock Emma…at least for a short time.

Slowly Marie-Ange began to move towards the shadows, seeming to fade away as she did so.

Wait…!

The ghostly figure paused for a brief moment, giving Emma an ever so slight smile.

I know you never meant us harm. I know you did not wish for the tragedy that befell us. I know you loved us. And I have loved you.

And with those final, softly spoken words the gray eyed specter disappeared once again into the shadows of the night. So much for a good night’s rest, Emma thought to herself, not noticing (or refusing to acknowledge) the single cold tear that slid down her pale cheek.
