Sebastian and Erik were rivals/frenemies since college. They compete in everything, even to see who could end up unhappily married first (Erik got his college girlfriend Magda pregnant, followed by a shotgun wedding. Shaw got drunk in Vegas and woke up married to Emma Frost, of all people). Now they're equal partners of a successful investment firm, equally rich, equally sexually frustrated. Erik's bored and frustrated by Magda's conservative lifestyle and generally depressed with how incompatible they are, while Emma's never pretended to care for Shaw, but won't divorce him because her life is so comfortable

"Interview for the new admin at eleven o'clock this morning," Erik said. His fingertips glanced over his tablet, and Sebastian's computer chimed, an incoming file alert. He opened it up and took a quick look at the resume: Charlotte Xavier, graduate of Harvard, degree in statistics.
"She's overqualified," Sebastian said. "She'll never take the job."
"She'll negotiate her salary up," Erik said. "But I think we can get her."
"If you say so. You want me to sit in on the interview?"
"It's a partnership. It says so on the door." Erik gestured over his shoulder, back toward the lobby of their office, the huge glass doors that read Shaw/Lehnsherr. "You might as well be there in body as well as spirit."
"Tell me when I've ever turned down one of your requests for my body," Sebastian drawled, smiling up at Erik. Erik just gave him a tight grin and headed out of Sebastian's office

OP is gobbling this up with a spoon! Love the set-up, totally get a great sense of Erik and Shaw's...complicated relationship. And Charlotte's already making a huge impression in the mix. This looks volatile and hot and everything I've been hoping for. Props to A!A.

Erik was early to the office the next morning, and Sebastian was nowhere in sight. No surprise there; Erik couldn't remember a time when Sebastian had woken up early without someone there at his side to prompt him out of bed.
All the better, then. He checked his watch, checked his email, tidied up his desk. The idea of seeing Charlotte Xavier again was filling him with anticipation-- a good feeling, something he didn't mind one bit.
He'd left a note for Magda on the fridge: Going to work early to show the new admin around, may be working late. Call if you need me to pick up L, W, & P. As far as he knew, she'd still been sound asleep in her bedroom as he left the house. He hadn't looked in to check

Erik, that is so unprofessional....but yum yum ;) I do think it's kind of endearing how he's at least trying to be professional about it. I'm also really glad how we're jumping between Erik and Shaw's POVs. It makes what we learn about their backgrounds so interesting!
OP can't wait to see how Charlotte mixes up their lives.
