Title: Our Romanesque
Pairing: Yasuba / Ohyass
Story: Shota is trapped in a violent relationship he can't seem to get out of. Will Subaru be able to rescue him?

It had been three whole years that I’d been with Tadayoshi, and the stressful relationship was getting too much for me to handle.

Every night, he’d leave the house, and never tell me where he was going - though it wasn’t hard to guess. He’d come back late, completely drunk, and Tadayoshi was violent when he was drunk. He’d hurt me; he even managed to put me in hospital at one point - but I put up with it because I knew he didn’t mean it.

When he was sober, he was so wonderful to me, and I couldn’t help but love the man. Besides, hadn’t I left my home in Kobe to live with him here in Osaka?

It was a frosty Saturday, and I was in desperate need of some Christmas shopping.

“I’ll go with you, Shota.” Tadayoshi offered, just as I was about to leave.

I considered it for a second, but then looked down at the purple bruises that stained my arms from the night before, and sighed.

“No, it’s fine. Besides, if you come with me, your Christmas present won’t be a surprise…” I had the perfect excuse to go alone today.

“Ah, good point. Any idea what time you’ll be back?”

I looked at the clock: 2pm.
“Hmm, I’d say about… sixish. Just in time for dinner.”

And I slammed the door shut behind me before I heard his response.

~

I felt guilty for being so blunt with him. I mean, Tadayoshi was a really nice guy - why else would I be with him? But last night, he was just completely out of control… just thinking of the madness that was in his eyes made me shiver.
I examined the bruises on my arms as I walked, flinching as I poked them in thought.

I absolutely adored the Central Shopping District in Osaka. It was always so busy, and the liveliness somehow reminded me of home back in Kobe.

My belly growled at me, so I decided to figure out the fastest route to my favourite bakery, and decided to cut through the alley ahead of me.
As I followed the smell of freshly baked bread, I heard a beautiful male voice singing; ‘Tell me~”

A pretty dark-haired boy sat outside the bakery, singing his heart out; he strummed his gorgeous guitar so perfectly, not missing a chord. The song he was singing was one I hadn’t heard before, so it was probably his own.
He ended his song with one final strum, and grinned at me as I happily applauded as his only audience.

“Hey, you’re really good! Did you write that song all by yourself?”

“Yup, all by myself. I doubt it’s any good though…you’re the first person to show any interest in my music.”

His intense gaze took me by surprise then, as he looked me straight in the eyes. I felt as though he could see through my soul.
I’ve never believed in stupid things like love at first sight, but as my heart started beating faster, I wondered if there actually was such a thing.

I kneeled down in front of him and put my hand out for him to shake.
“I’m Yasuda Shota by the way, nice to meet you!” I smiled.

“Pretty name,” he grinned again, “It has a nice ring to it. I’m Subaru.”

“Well Subaru, you wanna get something to eat?” I nodded at the bakery behind us.

The pretty boy smiled back, and we went inside.

~

I’d only just met him and I already felt like he knew me inside out. I checked the time: 4pm. I still had two hours left.. But as Subaru had been helping me shop, I’d finished buying everything faster than I had expected.

“So Subaru, do you always perform around here?” I asked my new friend.

“Nah, just on Saturdays It’s busier, y’know? More chance of getting noticed.”

“I see… that makes sense. Well actually I think I should get going now, I have all the shopping I need, and my boyfriend’s probably waiting for me…”

“Oh, you have a boyfriend?” he chuckled a little, “I shouldn’t be surprised…”

“What do you mean?”

“Nothing…it’s just, you’re too cute to be single, so I should‘ve known” he laughed, “Well I guess I’ll see you around.” his smile was breathtaking.

“Yeah, hopefully” I grinned back, and started making my way home.

I tried to stop thinking about Subaru as I walked back to the flat; the image of his last breathtaking smile making my heart thump so hard in my chest, I thought it was going to burst.

‘NO!’ I scolded myself. ‘Stop having ecchi thoughts about someone you’ve just met! You have a boyfriend!’

I finally made it to the flat, and just as I was about to unlock the front door, I heard a painful scream coming from inside - and I recognised the voice.

“Leave me ALONE!! NO! Get off me! SOMEONE, HELP!!” the squeaky voice shrieked.

I burst through the door, to find my lover naked, with my best friend struggling to move from underneath him.

“Sho-chan, HELP ME!!” Hiroki cried.

Tadayoshi removed his manhood from inside the helpless boy, and started putting his clothes back on.
Hiroki ran and hid behind me, but I just wanted him to leave - he’d be safe then.

“Go Hiroki!! Why are you still here?!?” I shouted at him, as he wouldn’t have left if I had said it calmly.

The door clicked shut, and as I faced Tadayoshi, I suddenly realised that we were alone. He had the same cruel madness in his eyes as last night, and I knew I was no longer safe.
