seeing the world from someone elses eyes...

I work at a call center; I speak to thousands of different people each month. Everyone has their own story, everyone their own opinions on everything, world issues, politics, and of course religion.

This wonderful older lady called me today to tell me many stories of how within my generation I will see many different things happen. I will see the world achieve things I could never imagine. She spoke of things that have happened during her 87 years of life. How in her early twenties when Russia was in the news a lot more then it seems to be today, they were trying to convince Americans that communism is the way to go. When they couldn’t get through to the older citizens, they then turned to the young adults. Trying to almost brainwash the people into believing that the future was better with communism.

The government then implemented that to call someone a communist gave you the right to then sue the person to which was verbally abusing another. Slanderous.. i found that quite interesting...

She also spoke of her views on the world today. How we don’t realize that we are destroying the world slowly, the earth has been so forgiving. It has allowed us to take advantage it, by polluting our air, by littering.

What stuck with me the most through out that conversation was the feeling that we strive to achieve things, find cures, advance within technology, to make the world a better place for the people after us. But when you think about it, what are we leaving them?

I look at it and see a huge mess. We are leaving them with nothing by concrete, high rise buildings on unstable ground, an ozone layer with more holes in it then we can count, and appetizing cattle filled with chemicals. Words we can’t even pronounce.
