Chapter 3
Saga’s POV
Tora is shaking violently and his skin is clammy to the touch. I pull him into the bathroom and wrap my fingers into the edge of his shirt, attempting to lift it over his head. He glares at me and jerks away.
“I can do it myself.” He snarls. I give him a look. . The kind mothers give misbehaving children, the kind that makes those kids shake in their shoes.
“Really? Well, I don’t believe you. You can either let me help you, or you can go right back out into the rain and freeze” I snap. He looks awful; the shaking seems to be getting worse. He sighs and lifts his arms up.
“Good boy.” I say. He frowns at me.
I peel his shirt off and step back.
“Take off your pants.” I command. Tora raises an eyebrow.
“Now you want me to undress myself?” He asks. I nod.
“I figure you’d be more comfortable with that, Tora-san.” I say. He just stands there, shaking and looking pathetic. I sigh and move to unbuckle his belt and remove his jeans. He makes an indignant-sounding noise as I slip his jeans down his legs and off. He’s wearing red boxers, and I try my best not to look.
I throw a towel over him and wrap it snugly around him, rubbing his arms through the material to warm him up.
“Isn’t that better, Tora-san?” I ask. He lets out a small sigh and nods. I pull him closer to me, wrapping my arms around him. I stand with him in my arms for a long minute, my face buried in his neck. He coughs slightly, and I let go. I can feel my face heat up and I know I’m blushing.
I am so glad I’m behind him so he can’t see my face.
“Want me to make you some tea?” I ask.
“That would be nice… Well… if you don’t mind.” Tora says. I nod, and hand him a pile of my clothes.
“Here, I can wash yours so you don’t have to wear mine for too long.” I smile.
“Arigatou, Saga-san.”
“Ah, iie, iie, Tora-san. I’ll go make your tea now.” I smile and walk back to the kitchen.
I start pulling down cups and tea, digging around in the drawer under the stove to find the kettle. I wonder if Tora will change his underwear. I giggle stupidly at the thought of him wearing my underwear.
“What’s so funny?” Tora says. I turn around and smile at him. He’s wearing my pajama pants and a long-sleeved shirt. He’s stopped shaking, but still looks tired and ill.
“Are you feeling any better now that you’re dry?” I ask. He nods.
“Anou, Saga-san, where am I going to sleep?” he looks me in the eyes. I tap my chin with a finger.
“You can sleep in my bed, and I’ll pull out my futon. Or, we could share the bed.” I wink at him. He remains stoic, so I force a laugh. “I was just kidding, Tora-san.”
I hand him a cup of tea and sit down across from him, watching the steam spiral lazily up from my drink.
“I’m beat.” I say, covering a yawn. Tora nods and opens his mouth to say something, but he starts coughing.
“Are you ok?” I ask, frowning. He shakes his head. I get up and go to the medicine cabinet in the bathroom to look for cough suppressant. Finding some, I dash back to Tora, who is still coughing slightly. I pour some of the thick green liquid into a dose cup and hand it to him.
“Drink!” I command. He makes a face.
“It isn’t that bad, just gulp it, Tora-kun!” I say, feeling like I’m convincing a child to take medicine. Not that I blame him, cough syrup is usually rather unpleasant.
He drinks it, and his face is priceless. He scrunches up his eyes and nose, sticks his tongue out, and gags. I roll my eyes and hand him his tea.
“That was amusing.” I smile.
“You didn’t have to drink it.” He groans. “You would think they could make it taste better.”
“Hm, next time I’ll get you the kiddy-kind.” I tease. “It comes in grape, cherry, and orange. Will that work?” Tora doesn’t gratify me with a response. I drop back into my seat at the table and finish my tea while I wait for Tora to drink his.
“Bedtime for you, Tiger.” I tell him.
“Can I have some tissues?” He asks. I nod and grab a box off the coffee table as I lead him to my bedroom.
“Ok, I’ll get you some extra blankets, because you need to be warm.” I say, as I start pulling down blankets and my futon from the closet.
“You don’t have to sleep on the floor.” Tora says, watching me carefully.
“Nani?” I ask, trying to prevent a large box of junk from falling on my head while rooting through my closet.
“You don’t have to sleep on the floor.” Tora repeats. I successfully shove the box back into it’s place and safely retrieve the blankets.
“Well, the futon is more comfortable than the couch.” I say. Tora rolls his eyes.
“We can share the bed, Saga-san. I’d feel bad for making you sleep on the floor.” Tora says, and then coughs a few times. I wince at the sound.
“You’re sick, so I want you to be able to sleep well. You need good rest. You sound awful.” I say honestly.
“I’ll be fine.” He says. He smiles and takes a deep breath. The coughing starts again.
“I’ll get you some water.” I say.
“Arigatou.” He croaks. Absently, I walk to the kitchen and fill a glass at the tap. What should I do for him? I already gave him medicine, hot tea, now I guess he just needs rest.
“Here you go, Tora-kun.” I hand him the glass, accidentally brushing his hand with mine. I nearly drop the glass as I yank my hand away, I can feel myself blushing. His face is slightly red too.
“Jyaa, I’m going to go shower.” I nod and flee to the bathroom, not waiting for a response.
Locking the door, I slide down the wall to the floor, contemplating these feelings. I’m not ready for this again. It could end up being the same as last time. I run my hand through my hair and sigh. Maybe I’ll feel better after showering.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Upon stepping out of the shower and wrapping a towel around my waist, I walk back into my room. I drop the towel and slip on a pair of boxers and some pajama pants. Looking at Tora, he appears to be asleep. His mouth is slightly open, and he’s got the covers pulled up to his chin. Tora looks flawless and handsome in this dim light. He starts to cough and his eyes open, he sits up and takes another drink of water.
“Are you doing alright?” I ask quietly. He nods and lays back down with his back to me.
I crawl in, careful to stay as close to the edge as possible, giving Tora plenty of space.
“Oyasumi nasai, Tora-kun.” I whisper.
“Un, oyasumi, Saga-kun.” He mutters. I smile and close my eyes.
A few hours later I wake up, Tora is shivering something nasty.
“Tora-kun, are you awake?” I whisper. No reply. “Ugh, fine, come here.” I pull him closer to me, hoping that my body heat will keep him warmer. I adjust the blanket to make sure he’s covered and warm. I hold him close, and the shaking ceases after a few moments. I check him once more to be sure he’s covered and warm before I drift off, enjoying the feeling of having him in my arms.
